Job Description

Accountant

The Catholic Diocese of Rockford is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting Supervisor and provide accounting support to parishes, schools, and diocesan agencies throughout the Rockford Diocese. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and wants to use their skills in support of a mission-driven Catholic organization.

The Diocese of Rockford serves Catholic communities across northern Illinois, supporting parishes, schools, ministries, and families throughout the region. The Staff Accountant will play an important role in helping these organizations maintain accurate, efficient, and compliant financial operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Support the daily operations of the accounting office.
* Provide QuickBooks and Paylocity support and guidance to parishes, schools, and agencies.
* Prepare, reconcile, and review financial reports and assist with budgeting.
* Review accounting entries and help ensure accuracy and consistency.
* Support compliance with established accounting policies and best practices.
* Work collaboratively with diocesan staff and provide responsive service to those we support.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* 2+ years of accounting and/or payroll experience.
* Experience with QuickBooks, Paylocity, and Microsoft Office.
* Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively as part of a team.
