Position Title: Finance Director

Department: Finance Department

Position Location: ( Remote)

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:

The Finance Director will lead annual budget formulation, monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual monitoring, and multi-year financial planning for organizational sustainability. This position partners closely with leadership, department managers, development, and International Program Grants (IPG) teams to align financial resources with ministry priorities, donor expectations, and strategic initiatives. The role supports forecasting, financial analysis, scenario modeling, and the preparation of materials for senior leadership and board-level review. Leads annual budget formulation across departments and programs to ensure financial alignment with ministry objectives. This position supports the CFO in investment-related reporting, liquidity analysis, reserve planning, and long-term financial sustainability.

Educational or Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business required.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• Advanced Excel or financial modeling coursework is beneficial.

Experience Requirements:

• 5-7+ years of progressive financial management, budgeting, and forecasting experience, preferably in a nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading budget cycles, developing financial assumptions, and partnering with budget owners.
• Experience preparing financial reporting packages for senior leaders, committees, or boards.
• Experience supporting donor-funded activities, grant reporting, or project costing preferred but not required.
• Experience supporting investment reporting, liquidity modeling, or reserve planning in coordination with senior leadership or external advisers preferred.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Proficient in variance analysis, forecasting, scenario modeling, and KPI tracking.
• Knowledge of budgeting systems or financial planning modules (ERP experience preferred).
• Ability to collaborate confidently with leadership, operational managers, and Advancement/Major Donor teams.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in simplifying financial concepts for non-financial audiences.
• Organized, deadline-driven, and attentive to detail.
• Demonstrates sound judgment, stewardship mindset, and financial integrity in all work efforts.

Duties:
• Oversees monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual monitoring, including variance review, risk analysis, and corrective action planning with department leaders.
• Develops and supports rolling 3-5-year financial forecasts tied to sustainability, staffing plans, and ministry expansion.
• Partners with leadership, Advancement, and International Program Grants (IPG) teams to support financial alignment, donor-funded program planning, and resource stewardship.
• Prepares financial analysis, reporting dashboards, scenario modeling, and materials for senior leadership and Finance/Audit/Board committees. Leads the annual budget calendar, instructions, and departmental submission process.
• Reviews, consolidates, and analyzes departmental budget inputs and cost drivers.
• Oversees monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual reporting and review sessions.
• Identifies financial risks, expenditure pacing concerns, and opportunities for course correction.
• Supports multi-year forecasts incorporating staffing, ministry growth, and operational cost analysis.
• Partners with International Program Grants (IPG) teams to evaluate spending plans, field partner funding pacing, and donor restrictions.
• Provides Advancement and Major Donor teams with financial inputs for proposals, stewardship reporting, and impact presentations.
• Develops monthly dashboards and KPI reporting for leadership review.
• Supports preparation of materials for Finance, Audit, and Board Committees.
• Supports investment performance reporting for the CFO and senior leadership.
• Prepares financial projections and liquidity analysis to inform reserve targets and long-term allocation decisions in accordance with the approved Investment Policy.
• Coordinates capital market data, reporting schedules, and analysis with external advisers, custodians, or investment consultants.
