Job Description
Notre Dame Catholic Parish is hiring a part-time Music Director, with potential for future full-time employment. The position of Music Director exists to provide an experience of the truth, beauty, and goodness of the Catholic liturgy through Sacred Music. The music program at Notre Dame is meant to be a formative and invitational expression of the historical and contemporary faith of the Church. The Music Director will be part of a very dynamic community of motivated Catholic leaders who are transforming the culture in the grace of Jesus Christ.This work includes but is not limited to these tasks:
Primary Responsibilities
• Recruits and auditions musicians and cantors.
• Directs women's choir, men's choir, schola, and children's choir.
• Plan music for weekly liturgies as well as Solemnities and special events such as weddings and funerals.
• Collaborates with Pastor, Parochial Vicar, Deacons and other staff members.
• Oversees and manages music ministry budget.
• Coordinates ordering of hymnals and preparation for music programs when used for special liturgies.
• Attends weekly staff meetings, retreats, and special ministry events.
Qualifications:
• Previous studies in Sacred Music and liturgical tradition preferred.
• Knowledge and love of Sacred Music, both Gregorian chant and polyphony.
• Organ and piano proficiency required.
• Experience in choral conducting.
• Highly organized, creative, and self-motivated.
• Works well in a team environment, as well as independently.
• Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
• Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
