Job Description

St. Joseph Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and passionate academic interventionist for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing intervention strategies and student success in academics (e.g. reading, writing, language, math, etc.); coordinating programs and activities for paraprofessionals; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, benchmarks and standards; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from teachers and students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. This job reports to the principal.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in education preferred. Special Education experience preferred.
Job-related experience is required.
Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with interventions, differentiated strategies and instructional materials that address individualized and/or small group learning plans. Administers subject specific assessments and tests for the purpose of assessing the level of students' competencies.
Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration as well as aligning with interventions.
Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, creating common assessments, analyzing data, identifying students in need of interventions, and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
Coordinates instruction and the developmental programs for the purpose of developing interventions cooperatively with classroom teachers to adequately meet the needs of targeted students.
Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
Establishes and maintains a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, records and reports concerning target pupils, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
Identifies areas of specific need for pupils for the purpose of planning how these needs may be met through interventions, specific materials and individualized and/or small group instruction.
Instructs targeted at-risk students in content area subjects (e.g. reading comprehension, vocabulary development, decoding skills, reference and study skills, math concepts, writing, language) for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
Manages students' behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, hallway, lunchroom, common areas, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Participates in activities designed to enhance communication with parents and/or legal guardians (e.g. parent-teacher conferences, activities designed to help parents understand assessments and standards, parent training, reports of student progress, etc.)
Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Salaries for teachers are calculated based on the teacher salary scale from the Archdiocese of Denver Office of Catholic Schools, which takes into account years of experience and educational qualifications.
