Job Description

The Catholic Territorial Prelature of Santiago Apostol of Huancane, Puno, PERU is standing on the threshold of a life changing moment as it takes its first steps to serve the people of Huancane. The Prelature was created by Pope Francis on the 3rd of April of 2019. Fr. Giovanni Cefai, a priest of the congregation of the Missionary Society of St Paul, a maltase missionary congregation, was named the first bishop of this new Prelature. The Prelature has an area of 18,880 km2 and a population of 200,000 Catholics. The Prelature faces many challenges in these early days due to widespread poverty, lack of infrastructure, and rough terrain - with altitudes ranging from 17,000 feet above sea level to 3.000 ft above sea level. Having some of the most dangerous roads in the world, the clergy and religious face challenging pastoral situations in their effort to simply travel from one place to the next.

Bishop Cefai has a great vision for the integral development of the people and the Prelature, especially in the areas in education, health as well as human and spiritual formation. He sent Fr. David O'Connor, an Irish missionary priest, ordained in Peru in 2015, to establish Together for Huancane, a 501C3 nonprofit organization, to help support the bold plans that God has placed in Bishop Giovanni's heart.

In Fr. David's role as President, he shares his love of the mission where he has worked for almost 10 years, the beautiful vision of Bishop Cefai, and is currently in the process of establishing a Board of Directors. He is seeking out Catholic philanthropists in the United States who feel called and are willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with Bishop Cefai, to help advance the mission of our Church in this often-forgotten part of Peru.

To succeed, Together for Huancane seeks a fundraising leader who believes in the power of philanthropy, who can thoughtfully create new strategies to raise the bar on our fundraising. This Executive Director must serve as "fundraiser-in-chief" and be an entrepreneurial leader who will serve as the main conduit between the United States and the Diocese and Bishop of Santiago Apostol de Huancane.

Bishop Giovanni Cefai and Fr. David O'Connor are extremely optimistic about the future. We now need a dynamic fundraising leader to join us in building a new foundation for inspiring great generosity to help advance the mission of Huancane in extraordinary ways.

Candidate Description
