Job Description

Notre Dame School in New Hyde Park, NY is looking for a Full-time 7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher to join our faculty beginning on September 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in science and social studies, while fostering the spiritual, academic, and moral development of students in alignment with Catholic values.

Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic; must support and model the mission of Catholic education
Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Science, or a related field (Master's preferred, NYS teaching credential preferred)
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Willingness to integrate faith, academics, and technology into daily teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

Develop and deliver creative, rigorous, and age-appropriate lessons in science for 7th and 8th grade students.
Use a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on activities, inquiry-based learning, and technology integration.
Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity in both content areas.
Incorporate Catholic teachings and a Christian worldview into the learning experience where appropriate.

Classroom Management and Student Support:

Create a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment centered on Gospel values.
Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback through assessments, projects, and parent communication.
Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Professional and Faith Community:

Participate actively in the school's Catholic identity and mission, including prayer, liturgies, and faith formation opportunities.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to plan interdisciplinary activities and contribute to school initiatives.
Attend faculty meetings, in-service training, and professional development workshops.
Maintain clear and open communication with parents, guardians, and school leadership.
