Job Description
OverviewSt. Thomas More Parish is seeking a talented and faith-filled musician to serve as our Director of Sacred Music.
This part-time position offers the opportunity to enrich the liturgical life of the parish through excellent music, collaboration, and creative leadership.
Responsibilities
Provide musical accompaniment on organ and/or piano for the 8:00 AM and/or 10:00 AM Sunday Masses (both preferred). No vigil mass music
Direct and rehearse the parish choir, preparing music for Sundays, holy days, and special liturgies.
Plan sacred and seasonal music that supports the Catholic liturgy and fosters participation.
Recruit and develop volunteer singers and instrumentalists, including outreach to local university programs (e.g., UWF School of Music) and the broader community.
Coordinate with the pastor
Qualifications
Proficiency in organ and/or piano performance (experience in both preferred).
Experience directing choirs and leading congregational singing.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgy, sacred music traditions
Leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience preferred
Hours & Compensation
Part-time, only 8am and 10am Sunday Masses along with rehearsals
Focused on weekends and major feast days, with rehearsal and planning time as needed.
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Paid for Masses and rehearsals.
