Job Description

The Oratory Academy in Staunton, VA (theoratorystaunton.org) is seeking a full-time teacher for grades 7 & 8 (all male classes). The Oratory offers a rich classical education to children in grades K - 12 within a culture that is thoroughly Catholic, under the patronage and inspiration of the humility, charity and joy of St. Philip Neri.
At The Oratory, homeschooled children in grades K-12 meet for two full days a week while the 7th & 8th grade male students may opt for a traditional 5 day per week school. We are looking to hire the teacher for this full-time option. The teacher's day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.
It is expected that the successful candidate will embrace the classical model of education and be persuaded of its benefits. A knowledge of, or interest in the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason, is desirable.
At the 7th/8th grade level, the candidate will teach the core subjects of grammar, history and literature. He or she may also be required to teach other grades in an area of expertise or interest.
Salary is paid over 36 weeks, corresponding to the calendar year which ranges from about August 10 to June 10.
Job Requirement: Bachelor's degree.

The Oratory Academy is a full-time school which has grown out of a 2 day per week homeschooling academy: The Oratory.
Our mission is to offer students a thoroughly Catholic, rigorous classical education, inspired by the humility, charity and joy of St Philip Neri. The full-time school in the 2026-27 year will be for males in 7 & 8th grade.
There is a heavy cooperation with the 2 day a week school which boasts of 20 teachers and 100 students in grades k-12.
