Job Description:
St. Mary's Academy seeks a High School Assistant Principal for Student Life and Instructional Leadership who delights in building relationships and believes deeply in the power of connection in an all-girls school. This role is central to student life and school culture and requires a relational, organized, and student-centered leader who brings curiosity, consistency, and care to daily work with adolescent girls. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and thoughtful colleague, a steady presence, and someone who consistently asks, "How can I help?" At the heart of this position is a commitment to helping girls thrive-academically, socially, and emotionally-while also walking alongside teachers as a trusted coach and collaborator. The Assistant Principal is a visible, steady, and joyful presence in the life of the school, helping to bring our strategic vision to life by fostering strong instructional practice, aligned curriculum, and a culture of shared growth grounded in trust, curiosity, and care.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Life, Culture, and Community
Serve as Dean of Students for student accountability, discipline, and restorative practices
Lead student leadership programs, assemblies, retreats, and community-building events
Coordinate orientation and onboarding for new students and families
Partner closely with families, serving as a consistent, compassionate, and solution-oriented point of contact
Support advisory programming and advisor communication
Collaborate with faculty and counselors on academic, social, and emotional student support
Serve as admissions liaison/coordinator, supporting prospective students and families
Support internship development, alum connections, and experiential learning opportunities
Instructional Leadership and Strategic Initiatives
Support implementation of the school's strategic plan with a focus on instructional excellence and coherence
Provide instructional coaching to faculty, fostering reflective practice and professional growth
Partner with academic leaders to lead curriculum alignment and review, ensuring coherence across courses and grade levels
Collaborate with the High School Principal and department chairs as a thought partner on teaching and learning
Stay current with research-based best practices in instruction, assessment, and girls' education
School Operations and Leadership
Serve as an operations liaison and positively support day-to-day high school operations
Teach one section each semester, maintaining a direct connection to classroom practice
Contribute as a key member of the high school leadership team
Model professionalism, collaboration, and a solutions-oriented mindset
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the school's mission
Qualifications/Requirements:
Master's degree in education administration, curriculum leadership or related field preferred
5+ years experience as a teacher and/or administrator with the ability to organize, coordinate, and motivate people..
Demonstrated success managing the academic, social, and behavioral aspects of high school student life.
Current knowledge of best instructional practices
Ability to connect, build relationships, and communicate effectively with parents, staff, students and the wider community
Clear commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
Capable thought partner to the high school principal

Salary/Benefits:
The salary range for this full-time, 12-month, exempt position is $95,000-110,000. St. Mary's Academy provides excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and life insurance, retirement, paid time off, tuition remission, and opportunities for professional development.
