Job Description
Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 annually, depending on experienceThe President of St. Mary's High School serves as the chief executive officer and steward of the
school's Catholic mission, strategic vision, and long-term sustainability. The President provides
leadership in advancement, enrollment growth, financial stewardship, and community engagement
while serving as the primary ambassador for the school to donors, alumni, families, and the broader
community. Working in close partnership with the Principal, who oversees academic leadership and
daily school operations, the President focuses on mission integration, strategic planning, fundraising,
and institutional growth to ensure the continued strength and vitality of St. Mary's High School.
1. Mission Effectiveness
The President serves as the chief steward of the school's Catholic mission and ensures that all
institutional initiatives advance the religious identity of St. Mary's High School.
Responsibilities include:
Promote and protect the Catholic identity of the school in fidelity to the teachings of the
Catholic Church.
Collaborate with the Diocese, clergy, and campus ministry to strengthen the spiritual life of the
school community.
Ensure that institutional policies, programs, and culture reflect the mission and values of including but not limited to mentorship and training opportunities.
Catholic education.
Encourage the integration of faith and formation in all aspects of school life.
Foster a culture of service, virtue, and leadership consistent with Catholic social teaching.
Support mission-based hiring and formation of faculty, staff, and leadership.
2. Governance
The President provides institutional leadership and works closely with the Board of Directors to ensure
effective governance and strategic direction.
Responsibilities include:
Serve as the primary liaison between the administration and the Board of Directors.
Assist the Board in strategic planning, policy development, and institutional oversight.
Provide regular reports to the Board on mission effectiveness, enrollment, finances, and
institutional progress.
Ensure compliance with Diocesan Strategic Alliance Agreement, accreditation standards, and
legal obligations.
Lead long-term strategic planning and institutional initiatives that advance the school's mission
and sustainability.
Recruit, supervise, and evaluate senior leadership positions that report to the President in
accordance with the Delegation of Authority Policy.
3. Academic Excellence (Strategic Oversight)
While the Principal serves as the chief academic leader, the President ensures that the school
maintains a strong and sustainable academic program.
Responsibilities include:
Partner with the Principal to support a rigorous Catholic college-preparatory academic program
consistent with St. Mary's mission statement.
Support institutional initiatives that strengthen curriculum, student formation, and faculty
excellence.
Ensure adequate resources are available to support academic programs and faculty
development.
Promote a culture of excellence in faith, learning, and character formation consistent with St.
Mary's mission statement.
Support accreditation processes and institutional improvement efforts.
4. Operational Vitality
The President leads the long-term sustainability and growth of the school through enrollment
leadership, advancement, and financial stewardship.
Responsibilities include:
Advancement and Fundraising
Lead institutional advancement efforts, including the annual fund, major gifts, and capital
campaigns such as the Memorare Campaign for the development of a new academic campus
at the Grace Center for Athletics.
Cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors, alumni, parents, parish communities,
foundations, and civic leaders.
Serve as the primary ambassador and public representative of St. Mary's High School,
communicating the school's mission and fostering unity across the school community and the
broader Catholic and civic community.
Enrollment and Marketing
Provide strategic leadership for enrollment growth and student recruitment (especially new
families)
Ensure effective marketing and communications that promote the school's mission and value.
Strengthen relationships with feeder schools, parishes, and the broader Catholic community.
Financial Stewardship
Provide executive oversight of the school's financial sustainability, ensuring that the financial
performance from daily operations supports the long-term mission and strategic priorities of St.
Mary's.
Collaborate with CFO and the Board to develop and manage the institutional budget, monitor
financial results, and implement strategies that strengthen operating performance and long-
term financial stability.
Ensure responsible stewardship of school resources, tuition revenue, and donor contributions
through appropriate financial controls, reporting, and accountability.
Human Resources
Provide executive oversight of human resources functions, including recruitment, hiring,
evaluation, and retention of faculty and staff in alignment with the mission of Catholic
education.
Ensure employment policies, compensation structures, and personnel practices comply with
applicable law, and best practices for Catholic schools.
Foster a mission-centered workplace culture while overseeing employee relations, leadership
development, and organizational structure.
Facilities, Safety, and Technology
Provide strategic oversight of campus facilities, including maintenance, capital improvements,
and long-term campus planning.
Ensure the implementation of effective campus safety, risk management, and emergency
preparedness policies to maintain a safe environment for students and staff.
Oversee institutional technology systems and infrastructure to support educational programs,
administrative operations, and data security.
Any other duties assigned by the Board consistent with the President's position and qualifications including but not limited to mentorship and training opportunities.
