Lancaster Catholic High SchoolCampus Minister (Director of Campus Ministry - After Satisfactory Onboarding)
The Campus Minister serves as the primary leader of Campus Ministry at Lancaster Catholic High School and, following satisfactory onboarding, assumes the full responsibilities of the Director of Campus Ministry. This position advances the mission of the school by helping students integrate their faith with the knowledge they acquire and the skills they develop in a practical, comprehensive, and meaningful way.
The Campus Minister is responsible for the development, administration, and evaluation of Campus Ministry programs for students, faculty, and staff, providing both spiritual leadership and operational oversight of all aspects of the Campus Ministry program. This position is supervised by the Principal, who may adjust core responsibilities as needed for the welfare of the school community and the mission.
Core Responsibilities Leadership & Mission
* Collaborate with the President, Principal, Chaplain and Administration to advance and streamline the spiritual mission of the school.
* Develop, in coordination with Administration, an annual school-wide spiritual theme.
* Provide a visible and accessible ministry of presence to students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, prospective students, and the wider community.
* Maintain the Campus Ministry Center as a welcoming, faith-filled space for students and community gatherings.
* Provide hospitality and spiritual support to faculty and staff at the direction of school leadership.
Liturgical Life
* Plan, coordinate, and oversee opportunities for frequent reception of the Sacraments, including:
* Monthly school Masses and Holy Days of Obligation
* School-wide Reconciliation services (three times per year)
* Provide regular chapel liturgies for students and staff.
* Plan and implement seasonal paraliturgies (Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Penance Services, etc.).
* Coordinate Baccalaureate Mass as part of graduation week.
* Facilitate prayer and devotional opportunities, including Holy Hour, Adoration, Rosary, and Divine Mercy Chaplet.
* Coordinate weekly Friday Chapel Adoration with volunteer parent leadership.
* Coordinate daily holy hour and rosary in the chapel
* Oversee sacristan duties and maintain the chapel space, including seasonal liturgical appointments.
* Coordinate seasonal schedules for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
* Coordination with local priests
Retreats & Spiritual Formation
* Develop and implement a comprehensive retreat program for approximately 500 students, fulfilling the requirement of one retreat per student per year.
* Retreat offerings include, but are not limited to:
* Kairos Retreat Program
* Leadership Retreats
* Diocesan retreats and programs
* Secure and coordinate off-campus retreat facilities and transportation.
* Lead and coordinate retreats directly as needed.
* Develop and implement at least one retreat opportunity for faculty and staff.
* Provide opportunities for spiritual direction and growth for students and staff.
* Coordinate the training and selection of seniors as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
* Coordinate Campus Ministry Crusader Period activities and special support groups.
Service & Student Leadership
* Coordinate and direct Campus Ministry Student Interns.
* Support House System leadership.
* Support social and service clubs as needed.
Collaboration & Student Support
* Be available to the administration, faculty, and coaches to provide spiritual support and perspective for student needs.
* Maintain a Campus Ministry resource library for students and staff (books, videos, digital resources).
* Collaborate with pastors, parish youth ministers, D/CREs, and college campus ministers to strengthen coordinated ministry within the Lancaster Deanery.
Operations, Budget & Facilities
* Develop and manage the annual Campus Ministry and Chapel budgets (Director-level responsibility).
* Manage retreat fees, Mass card funds, purchase orders, subscriptions, and supply needs.
* Coordinate transportation for retreats and events, including scheduling Campus Ministry vehicles and securing buses as needed.
* Manage and maintain the Campus Ministry suite.
* Manage and coordinate scheduling of Campus Ministry suite for school-wide use.
* Maintain shared calendars and schedules for Campus Ministry meetings and events.
* Responsive to collaboration with Administration, other departments, and other duties assigned.
Communication
* Provide monthly reports to the Principal for the School Board.
* Maintain Campus Ministry web pages and digital signage with current program information.
* Maintain and manage Campus Ministry social media accounts.
* Coordinate with the Communications Director to ensure timely communication to students, parents, alumni, and constituents.
* Maintain regular communication with faculty and staff regarding Campus Ministry initiatives and schedules.
Educational & Professional Competencies
* Practicing Catholic in good standing who faithfully witnesses to Church teaching and lives a vibrant sacramental life.
* Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Catholic Studies, or a related field required; Masters preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in ministerial and organizational leadership strongly preferred.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Catholic liturgy, sacramental theology, and Church documents.
* Completion of (or willingness to complete) diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
Spiritual & Ministerial Competencies
* Ability to articulate the Catholic faith clearly and engage students in meaningful spiritual formation.
* Experience planning and leading liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and faith-based programming.
* Demonstrated pastoral sensitivity, sound judgment, and appropriate boundaries in working with adolescents.
* Commitment to evangelization, discipleship, and fostering a culture of prayer within the school community.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, clergy, faculty, staff, and parents to integrate faith across school life.
Physical Competencies
* Ability to move throughout the school campus, including classrooms, offices, chapel, and event spaces.
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during liturgies, retreats, school events, and student activities.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., retreat materials, event supplies, boxes of resources).
* Ability to set up and break down event spaces, including arranging chairs, tables, and liturgical materials.
* Ability to travel off-campus for retreats, service projects, and ministry-related events, including occasional overnight trips.
* Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support retreats, liturgies, and school events.
* Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and audiovisual systems used for presentations and worship.
Transition to Director Role
At the Principal's determination, following satisfactory onboarding and demonstrated effectiveness, this position assumes full responsibility as Director of Campus Ministry, serving as the sole leader of the department while continuing to collaborate closely with school leadership to ensure mission-centered continuity and growth. Throughout the onboarding process, job duties will be shared and progressively assumed.
