Job Description
Position Summary:St. Malachy Catholic School and Church is seeking a qualified Facilities Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and safety of all parish and school buildings and grounds. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors. The Facilities Manager supervises maintenance and custodial staff, coordinates contracted services, manages facility
budgets, and collaborates with parish leadership on construction and improvement projects, all in support of the parish mission and Amazing Parish model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and evaluate maintenance, janitorial staff, and volunteers
- Oversee daily facility operations, utilities, safety and security systems
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors and inspection agencies
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance, repairs, and renovation projects
- Manage facility budgets, inventory, equipment, and capital expenditure requests
- Ensure compliance with Archdiocese policies, safety standards, and inspections
- Address snow, ice, and weather-related facility needs as required
- Support parish and school events, including occasional evening or weekend hours
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Working knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry,
etc.)
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and supervise staff effectively
- Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church
- Must complete Archdiocese-required background checks and child safety training
Working Environment:
This position requires working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, operating machinery and equipment with care, frequent standing and lifting (10-100 pounds), and working in occasionally loud environments with interruptions. On-call availability and schedule flexibility are required.
