School Bus Driver (CDL Class B)

Job Description

Ave Maria Catholic School is seeking a School Bus Driver (CDL Class B) for the 2026-2027 school year. The need is for the south bus route into Castle Rock with stops at St. Francis and the Pinery. This position is for both a morning and afternoon route in addition to extra hours for field trips & maintenance. We will consider paying for training to attain Class B CDL if don't already have one.
Responsibilities
• Safely operate school buses with a valid CDL Class B license, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Transport students, staff, and community members to designated locations on scheduled routes or special trips.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical safety and readiness before each trip.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English or multilingual communication skills.
• Manage student behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques to ensure a safe environment.
• Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus, providing childcare support when needed.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle inspections in compliance with company policies.

Skills
• Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving, especially school bus driving or paratransit services.
• Strong communication skills in English
• Knowledge of driving safety protocols, mechanical basics for routine vehicle checks, and child safety procedures.
• Excellent working knowledge of traffic laws, route navigation, and behavior management strategies.
• Ability to work with children and provide compassionate customer service in a dynamic environment.
• Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance awareness.
