Job Description
The Role:The Bus Driver at St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School (JPG) is expected to drive a 15-passenger school bus for a daily before-and-after-school route between the designated pickup location and JPG. As a member of the JPG community, the Bus Driver is expected to support the mission and values of the school. Employees serving in this role must be active members of the Catholic Church in good standing.
Job Responsibilities:
-Safe Transport of Students: Ensure the safe and timely transportation of high school students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips.
-Route Planning and Timeliness: Follow designated routes and schedules. Ensure that buses run on time, maintaining consistency.
-Student Management: Monitor student behavior during transit, ensuring they follow safety rules and maintaining order on the bus.
-Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks on the bus to ensure it's in proper working condition. This includes checking tires, lights, brakes, and other systems before and after each route.
-Communication with School and Parish Officials: Maintain communication with school and parish staff, administrators, and parents, especially in case of delays, issues with students, or emergencies.
-Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergencies (medical or other incidents), knowing the proper safety protocols, and ensuring the well-being of students.
-Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of bus routes, student attendance, and any incidents or accidents that may occur during the route.
-Compliance with Traffic Laws: Follow all relevant traffic laws, school district policies, and safety regulations when operating the bus.
Ongoing Requirements:
-Valid Driver's License:: A valid driver's license is required at all times.
-School Bus Driver Certification: Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings at any time.
-Excellent Communication Skills: Interact positively and joyfully with students, parents, and school personnel.
-Safety Consciousness: Focus on student safety, both while driving and when interacting with students.
-Decision making: Help the School administrators determine whether it is safe to transport students on inclement weather days, then execution of the plan.

Work Schedule:
-Generally early morning (before school) and late afternoon (after school) hours, with flexibility for field trips or extracurricular activities.
-All hours will be recorded in designated Timesheets in a timely manner for approval by the supervisor.
-Anticipated number of hours per week: 20-25, with additional hours if needed.
