Coordinator of Parish Ministries

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Catholic: Required

JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Parish Ministries provides leadership, support, and strategic oversight for the parish's ministries, ensuring they remain aligned with the mission, vision, and priorities of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Working closely with the Director of Operations, Pastor, parish staff, and ministry leaders, this position cultivates a vibrant culture of discipleship by supporting ministry leaders, strengthening parish engagement, and promoting collaboration among ministries. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for parish ministries, providing guidance, coordinating ministry operations, and identifying opportunities to strengthen existing ministries or develop new ones in response to the evolving needs of the parish.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Leadership & Oversight:
Provide leadership, support, and ongoing coaching to parish ministry leaders.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of parish ministries to ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and pastoral priorities of the parish.
Serve as the primary liaison between parish ministries and parish leadership.
Foster healthy collaboration, communication, and shared ownership among ministry leaders.
Support ministry leaders in recruiting, onboarding, and developing volunteers.
Assist ministries in establishing annual goals, evaluating effectiveness, and planning for future growth.
Address ministry concerns, conflicts, and operational challenges in a timely, pastoral, and professional manner.
Ensure ministries operate in accordance with diocesan policies and parish procedures.

Discipleship & Ministry Development:
Promote a culture of missionary discipleship throughout parish ministries.
Encourage ministries to intentionally invite, form, and accompany parishioners in their faith journey.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing ministries and recommend improvements, restructuring, or retirement when appropriate.
Identify opportunities for new ministries that respond to the spiritual and pastoral needs of the parish.
Develop pathways that help parishioners become engaged in parish life through ministry involvement.
Encourage collaboration between ministries to strengthen parish unity and reduce duplication of efforts.

Ministry Operations:
Coordinate ministry scheduling and assist with facility use, calendar coordination, and operational needs in collaboration with the Office Manager and parish staff.
Assist ministry leaders with planning, budgeting, purchasing requests, and administrative processes as appropriate.
Ensure ministries have the resources, facilities, and support needed to operate effectively.
Coordinate annual ministry leader meetings, training opportunities, appreciation events, and ongoing formation.

Communication & Parish Engagement:
Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure ministries are effectively promoted through the bulletin, website, Flocknote, social media, parish events, and other communication channels.
Assist ministry leaders in communicating opportunities for involvement and volunteer service.
Develop strategies that encourage parishioners to discover and participate in parish ministries.
Monitor ministry participation and identify opportunities to increase parish engagement.

Collaboration:
Collaborate with clergy, parish staff, school leadership, and ministry leaders to support parish initiatives.
Build strong relationships with ministry leaders through regular communication, encouragement, coaching, and accountability.
Support parish-wide events that require coordination among multiple ministries.

Other Responsibilities:
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding parish and ministry matters.
Represent the parish at diocesan meetings, workshops, and ministry events as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church possessing a solid understanding of
Catholic theology, traditions, values, and practices.
Compliance background check, fingerprinting, and Protecting God's Children certification.
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Catechetics & Evangelization, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of parish ministry experience.
Experience with ParishStaq or similar church management software preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading volunteers and developing ministry leaders.
Experience coordinating multiple projects, ministries, or teams.

WORK SETTING
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with frequent interaction throughout the parish campus.
This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to support ministry meetings, parish events, formation opportunities, and special celebrations.
The Coordinator of Parish Ministries must be visible, approachable, and actively engaged in the life of the parish community.
