Job Description
Sales DirectorThe Catholic Woodworker | Westfield, IN | On-Site | Full-Time
WHO WE ARE
The Catholic Woodworker is a fast-growing Catholic apostolate on a mission to become America's #1 rosary resource. We make handcrafted rosaries and prayer accessories that help Catholics pray more deeply, and we take that mission seriously.
Our Why: To equip the heart so that every Catholic can pray, believe, and bring Christ to the world.
We're a small, dedicated team in Westfield, Indiana, rooted in Catholic identity, not as a marketing angle, but as the reason we exist. Everything we build, hire, and sell flows from that mission.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're hiring our first-ever Sales Director. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build something that matters: a sales function rooted in Catholic values, designed to put rosaries in more people's hands through wholesale accounts, ministry partnerships, bulk-gifting programs, and high-value customer relationships.
You'll work directly with our Founder, have full visibility into the financial model, and bring a Sales Associate along with you as you build. We're not looking for someone to manage a territory. We're looking for a builder.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
* A meaningful non-ad revenue target, with compensation tied directly to hitting and exceeding it
* The Apostle's Program: TCW's bulk rosary gifting initiative targeting high-devotion Catholics and Catholic organizations
* Wholesale and ministry partnership channels, from first contact to repeatable pipeline
* The Mission Rosary co-brand program: custom-branded rosary launches with Catholic apostolates, parishes, and organizations
* Forecast accuracy, we treat this as a core discipline, not a formality
* Direction, standards, and accountability for B2B order management, invoicing, and account coordination
* The coaching and development of our Sales Associate as you build the team
YOU ARE
* A practicing Catholic with genuine rosary devotion, this role requires it
* A builder: you've been first or second into a sales function, created the playbook rather than followed one, and you're energized by ambiguity
* An experienced sales leader who has owned a number, hit it, and can show the work
* Financially literate, you understand margins, CAC, and unit economics
* Comfortable working cross-functionally with production, fulfillment, bookkeeping, and marketing
* Someone who wants their work to matter, and sees commercial success and Catholic mission as complementary, not competing
* Based in Indianapolis or willing to relocate, this is an on-site role
CAPABILITIES WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We have identified the following eight capabilities as critical or desirable for success in this role.
Critical Capabilities
* Achieving Plans: Demonstrates a passion for surpassing goals, commits to continuous improvement, and persists until personal and team commitments are met
* Committing to Goals: Highly self-motivated to set and pursue outcomes independently, with the capacity to manage complex goal-setting
* Displaying Initiative: Applies original thinking, evaluates new approaches, and acts independently to improve processes and drive better results
* Personal Selling: Actively seeks sales opportunities, creates product awareness, embraces the sales challenge, and consistently closes
Desirable Capabilities
* Business Acumen: Thinks in profit-conscious terms, considers the bottom line, and looks for legitimate financial advantage in negotiations
* Accepting Responsibility: Owns their work, demonstrates honesty and reliability, and delivers on commitments consistently
* Building Customer Relationships: Asks questions to understand needs, focuses on the customer, and finds creative ways to improve service
* Operating Independently: Sets high personal standards, works reliably without external motivation, and is self-reliant under pressure
** Note: After review of initial applicants, those individuals selected for interview will, prior to the interview, be asked to take a complimentary AbilityMap assessment. TCW will pay for the assessment. The applicant will receive a copy of their results. The results will be used during the interview process, but will not be the determining factor for consideration for the position.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary expectations will be discussed during the interview process. This role also participates in TCW's company-wide performance bonus program. You'll have direct access to the Founder and full visibility into the business, including the financial model your targets are built on. We also offer a generous Time-Off policy and will be offering health insurance beginning January 1, 2027.
We're not in a rush to fill this role with the wrong person. If you're the right fit, we'll find each other.
