The Part-Time Catholic Religion Teacher is responsible for fostering students' spiritual, moral, and academic development through engaging religious instruction rooted in Catholic teachings and traditions.
The teacher supports the school's mission by creating a faith-filled classroom environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with God, their understanding of the Catholic faith, and their commitment to Christian values.
Essential Responsibilities
Faith Formation & Religious Instruction
Teach religion classes in accordance with diocesan curriculum guidelines and Catholic doctrine.
Prepare and deliver engaging lessons on Scripture, sacraments, prayer, morality, Church history, and Catholic traditions.
Integrate Catholic values and teachings into classroom discussions and activities.
Foster a respectful, welcoming, and faith-centered classroom environment.
Encourage students to develop spiritually, morally, and socially.
Classroom Responsibilities
Maintain orderly classroom routines and positive student behavior.
Create lesson plans and instructional materials appropriate for the grade level.
Assess student understanding through assignments, projects, participation, and assessments.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Supervise students during assigned duties and school activities as needed.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate professionally with parents, faculty, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the school's overall mission.
Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, liturgies, and school events as required for part-time staff.
Catholic School Commitment
Model Christian values and Catholic teachings in word and action.
Support the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.
Organize and participate in school prayer services, Masses, and religious celebrations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in Theology, Religious Education, Education, or related field.
Practicing Catholic required.
Knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, and doctrine.
Teaching experience preferred, especially in Catholic or religious education settings.
Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Commitment to nurturing students academically and spiritually.
Terms of Employment
Part-time position, approx. 20 hours per week
