Director of Development at Fontbonne Hall Academy

Fontbonne Hall Academy, an esteemed all-girls Catholic High School located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Development. Since its founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, NY, in 1937, Fontbonne has been dedicated to providing young women with a comprehensive education that fosters academic excellence, personal creativity, cultural awareness, and spiritual growth.

Job Summary: Reporting to the school principal, the Director of Development plays a pivotal role in overseeing all fundraising efforts and cultivating relationships with individuals and organizations to secure resources that support the mission of Fontbonne Hall Academy.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the principal and the development committee of the board of trustees to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Fontbonne Hall Academy.

Establish financial goals for development and create a budget aligned with these objectives.

Develop and distribute compelling marketing materials and fundraising literature to engage former donors and attract potential new donors.

Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities and apply for grants from foundations and corporations.

Cultivate relationships with individuals and organizations, in partnership with the principal, to secure, nurture, and expand fundraising support.

Build and maintain lasting connections with major and longstanding donors, keeping them informed about the impact of their contributions on Fontbonne as an institution and community.

Supervise the development officers, as well as any future additional development staff, including student workers involved in data entry, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, with 7 to 10 years of professional experience, preferably in an educational institution.

Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask effectively, and analytical proficiency.

Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through in-person interactions, phone conversations, and written correspondence.

High energy, creativity, and resourcefulness, consistently exhibiting a proactive approach.

Comfortable engaging with high-level donors and prospects, and capable of directly soliciting gifts.

Excellent time management and prioritization abilities, with the flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively.

Proficient in computer skills, including social media platforms, basic website editing, and digital design tools.

Familiarity with CRM systems including DonorPerfect or willingness to learn.

Prior experience using DonorPerfect or similar donor software is advantageous.

Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends, as required.
Strong commitment to the mission of Fontbonne Hall Academy.

Salary Range (based on experience): $110,000 to $135,000
