Job Description
St. Matthew Parish is looking for an energetic Youth Formation Coordinator to join our community. The coordinator collaborates with the Pastor, parish/school staff, and various ministry groups. The primary role of the Youth Formation Coordinator is to guide students in middle and high school toward becoming active followers of Christ through liturgy, catechesis, and service. It is required that the Youth Formation Coordinator possess a deep understanding of the Catholic faith, have the knowledge to teach age-appropriate lessons, and demonstrate the ability to connect with various community members. Must have the ability to operate technology (audio-visual equipment, software applications, media platforms, etc.), prepare learning materials, facilitate safeguarding classes, and to manage sacramental liturgies with the Pastor and/or designee. - ensure all catechists and volunteers have met Safeguarding requirements
- select, facilitate, and attend parish summer youth mission trip
- recruit and train catechists
- develop curriculum, programs, and events
- connect students to service opportunities and families with formation resources
- assist with with Confirmation liturgy or other sacramental liturgies upon request
- coordinate annual Advent scrip drive, monthly Sandwich Sunday outreach, and monthly Bingo at Elizabeth Residence
- collaborate with cluster/deanery parishes for professional meetings, youth events, and bi-annual National Catholic Youth Conference
- serve as resource for staff and facilitate school retreat/reflection days
- update social media (parish website, facebook, e-sign) with events and upcoming parish information
- create and record sacramental information/certificates (Confirmation, First Communion)
- manage and maintain registrations, attendance, program payments
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Education or equivalent
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the church
- Experience in education, catechisis, and volunteer recruitment/supervision
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends as needed
