Machine Operator

Job Description

Position Summary: The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating different pieces of equipment and meeting daily productivity goals, safety, and quality standards. The machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Prepare machines to start a production cycle, performing calibration, cleaning, and other activities
-Monitor and properly adjust machine settings
-Verify output to detect any machine-related mistakes or flaws
-Communicate mechanical issues
-Complete Record sheet of defective/damaged items and completed units.
-Be able to perform daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance.
-Comply with all safety and health regulations.
-Maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Knowledge/Critical Skills:

-High School Diploma or GED required.
-Listen to feedback and communicate with the lead or manager of manufacturing as needed.
-Must be detail-oriented.
-Numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement.
-Effectively communicate and write in English.
-Ability to follow instructions
-Ability to work in a team environment
-Must be reliable and work the assigned schedule(s)

Key Performance Indicators:

-Maintain an accident-free environment (0 accidents)
-Maintain current quality goals (.35% or less)
-Maintain current efficiency goals ( 20 UPH or more)
-Maintain current scrap rate goals (1% or less)

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

-Works in a production/manufacturing setting
-Long durations of sitting and/or standing
-Works under minimal supervision
-Frequently writes and types on a computer.
-Be able to run different pieces of equipment
-Be able to lift 50 pounds or more occasionally
-Work overtime when required by the manager
-Available to work different schedules during peak seasons
-Must be able to drive
