Job Description

The Annual Gift Officer supports SPIRITUS Ministries by cultivating and stewarding donor relationships to strengthen fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include engaging donors through calls, visits, and appeals, expressing gratitude, maintaining records, assisting with planned giving, and supporting donor events and campaigns. Working with the development team and leadership, the Gift Officer ensures donors feel valued and connected while aligning their passions with the mission of SPIRITUS.

Responsibilities
Donor Relations & Stewardship
Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Development to implement a strategic plan for donor cultivation and stewardship.
Build authentic relationships with supporters of SPIRITUS, encouraging engagement through gifts of time, talent, and treasure.
Communicate with donors through calls, emails, and personalized letters of appreciation and connection.
Develop individualized stewardship plans to thank and engage donors at all giving levels.
Coordinate donor recognition efforts, including thank-you letters, personal calls, and impact reports.
Support annual campaigns, appeals, and other fundraising initiatives.
Research prospective donors, funding opportunities, and write grant proposals.
Assist with planned giving coordination to meet short- and long-term fundraising goals.

Database & Reporting
Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date donor records in DonorSnap.
Run donor reports to inform development strategies and communications.
Track giving history, donor preferences, and relationship notes.
Document key responsibilities and procedures through written standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Communications
Draft compelling donor communications, including newsletters, impact stories, and annual reports.
Collaborate with the communications team to highlight donor impact through print, email, and social media.
Ensure consistent messaging that reflects the mission and values of SPIRITUS Ministries.

Events & Engagement
Collaborate with the Director of Development and Event Coordinator to plan and execute donor events that inspire generosity and deepen connection to the mission.
Coordinate logistics, invitations, and follow-up for fundraising and donor appreciation events.
Represent SPIRITUS at community and parish events to foster new donor relationships.

Qualifications
Passion for the mission of SPIRITUS Ministries.
Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field (preferred).
1-3 years of experience in development, donor relations, fundraising, or related work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft inspiring donor messages.
Proficiency with donor databases/CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
Comfort with public speaking and donor engagement.
Working Conditions
Office-based with occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Some travel to meet with donors, parishes, and partners.
