Job Description

Position Summary
The Director of Grantmaking provides strategic leadership for SOAR!'s grantmaking programs, ensuring they effectively advance the organization's mission of enhancing the quality of life for aging Catholic Sisters, Brothers, and Priests. The Director of Grantmaking is responsible for shaping grantmaking strategy, strengthening relationships with congregations and other nonprofit partners, and identifying opportunities to expand SOAR!'s impact through responsive funding programs and collaborative initiatives. Reporting to the President, the Director of Grantmaking provides leadership for the organization's grantmaking function, supervises grantmaking staff, and serves as the primary resource for congregations seeking guidance on grant programs and funding opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities
• Develop and implement grantmaking strategies that align with SOAR!'s mission and strategic plan.
• Direct all aspects of SOAR!'s grantmaking programs, from outreach to prospective applicants through the application process, award administration, and post-award reporting.
• Oversee Grant Review Committee processes, grant agreements, project changes, and payment administration.
• Provide strategic oversight of grant funding programs, including implementation, reimbursement administration, and program evaluation.
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with current and prospective grantees nationwide.
• Conduct site visits and to evaluate impact and strengthen relationships through discussing funding priorities, project ideas, and organizational needs.
• Facilitate monthly grantee information sessions, virtual information sessions for prospective applicants, and other educational opportunities.

Education, Experience & Qualifications
• Commitment to the mission of SOAR! and respect for the life, service, dignity, and needs of aging Catholic Sisters, Brothers, and Priests.
• Working knowledge of the Catholic Church and Catholic religious congregations preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
• Candidates should have at least three to five years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading grantmaking programs, supervising staff, managing organizational priorities, and driving strategic initiatives.
• Proficiency in grant management systems, Microsoft Office, digital communications tools, and basic technology and cybersecurity practices.
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision are required.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
• Willingness to travel nationally for site visits and conferences.

Position Pay Range & Benefits
• The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 annually. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime.
• Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Location
This position is based in Silver Spring, Maryland and is not eligible as a remote position.
