Position Overview:
Chelsea Academy is seeking a highly motivated faculty member as a part time Instructional Aide to assist the Lower School (grades K-5) during the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Desired candidate should be a joyful disciple, have a knowledge and appreciation of Catholic intellectual tradition, classical and liberal arts pedagogy, a passion for educating and forming Christian youth, and a spirit of adventure. Important characteristics include competence in education, a focus on student learning, classroom management skills, ability to collaborate on a team, and enthusiasm.
Teaching Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Assist with instruction in grades K-5, depending on the need each day
- Work with students individually or in small groups, to help them better understand classroom material
- Substitute teach for grades K-5 when a teacher is absent for illness or other reasons
- Work 25 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours as needed to cover classes when teachers are out sick
Qualifications:
- Required: candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
- Required: candidate must have a Bachelor's degree
- Candidate should have experience with classical Catholic liberal arts education
- Other desired qualifications:
- Polished and effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and deliver effective lesson plans
- Ability to manage a classroom environment well
- Ability to relate well with students
- Ability to be flexible in a smaller school environment
- Willingness to work with classroom teachers to integrate the discipline within curriculum
About the Curriculum and Culture:
Chelsea Academy's curriculum is designed to cultivate wisdom and virtue through a rigorous and integrated liberal arts education. History courses emphasize the study of human civilization, the development of Western culture, and the moral lessons drawn from the past. English courses emphasize the close reading of great works of literature in the light of truth, beauty, and goodness, cultivating clear and persuasive writing, thoughtful discussion, moral imagination, and an appreciation for the enduring insights of the Western intellectual and Christian traditions. Faculty members are expected to model the school's core virtues of faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance and to guide students toward intellectual excellence and moral maturity.
