Job Description

The Business Manager is a full-time employee of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta and is responsible to the Pastor of St. Philip Benizi Parish (SPB) and fulfills parish administrative needs in finance and personnel. The Business Manager directs these efforts with technical and legal expertise within the framework of shared ministry Catholic values. The Business Manager works closely with the parish staff and parishioners to ensure that all stakeholders are provided the resources necessary to foster the SPB mission of Empowering Disciples, Walking United. Primary responsibilities and relationships are outlined below.

Responsibilities:
• Financial:
o Maintains an accurate filing and record keeping and reporting system for all parish financial matters. Prepares monthly, quarterly and year end reports for parish and Archdiocese as needed.
o Administers a cash flow management system with purchasing and payment schedules clearly defined.
o Prepares, administers, and reviews the budget process in collaboration with the Finance Council, Pastor, and other committees. Assists the Finance Council in presenting the budget to the Parish Council for approval.
o Monitors the collection, counting, recording, and depositing of parish revenue from all sources.
o Serves as a helpful resource to parish organizations in all financial matters from planning to auditing.
o Serves as a parish contact with financial institutions and the Archdiocese in collaboration with the Trustee (Treasurer).
o Develops financial forecasts and assists in the planning of financial stewardship and long-range planning efforts.
o Works in conjunction with the Director of Advancement to make certain that donor gifts are properly logged and stewarded (thanked).
• Administration:
o Directs the operation of the parish office. Schedules, supervises, and evaluates office staff and volunteers (some of whom are tasked with the some of the responsibilities listed here). Oversees operation of parish office computer and duplicating equipment.

o Supervises the maintaining of sacramental records.
o Attend and participate in staff meetings, and archdiocesan meetings (as time and primary responsibilities allow).
o Keep an accurate calendar.
o Administers parish salary and benefit policies as directed by the Pastor.
o Assists with hiring/termination of personnel in collaboration with the Pastor.
o Coordinates and prepares parish response to liability and legal concerns, in cooperation with the Pastor and Archdiocesan offices as appropriate.
o Is responsible for all parish volunteer safety records.
o Is responsible for proper storage and purging of all parish archival material.
o Oversees the scheduling use of parish facilities and ensures all liability and maintenance needs are coordinated.
o Oversees the parish calendar.
• Professional Development
o Participate in at least one continuing education program each year for professional development.
o Maintain membership in any professional associations as appropriate and engage accordingly in regular updating in finance/management best practices.
o Commit appropriate time to continue developing spiritually as a Minister of the Gospel and as a disciple who lives a healthy Catholic life of faith.

Qualifications:
• Education:
o Minimum Bachelor's Degree
• Other:
o Practicing Roman Catholic
o Experience in Management/Accounting is preferred.
o Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) is preferred, not essential.
o Knowledge of accounting and record keeping principles and practices
o Knowledge of cash flow management and budgetary principles
o Ability to maintain accurate collection and deposit records.
o Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures including legal requirements.
o Awareness of liability and litigation procedures and ability to respond to federal, state and local laws.

Hours:
• The Business Manager has flexible hours as a 40+hour per week position.
• Diocesan vacation policies apply.

Compensation:
• Full-time, 12 month a year position
• $65,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
• Benefits as provided by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance and 403(b) plan.
