The Diocesan Curia plays a vital supporting role in this mission. Its purpose is to serve the priests, parishes, schools, and ministries of the Diocese, helping them live out the call to evangelization by providing operational, administrative, and pastoral support.

About the Role

The Diocese of Peoria is currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve the mission of growing disciples. The COO will serve as a key leader at the Diocese of Peoria, overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the Diocesan Curia. Reporting directly to the Bishop, the COO will be a member of the Executive Team-collaborating closely with the Vicar General, Chief of Mission and Chancellor to drive strategic decision-making, ensure mission alignment, and address key operational and cultural challenges.

The COO will lead with a servant heart, bringing strong leadership, strategic vision, and a passion for fostering a mission-driven and service-oriented culture.

What You Will Do
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all day-to-day administrative functions of the Curia, encompassing approximately 40 staff members, excluding legal, clergy, and mission areas.
• Lead and supervise key departments reporting to the COO, including:
o Finance (through the CFO)
o Human Resources
o Catholic Education/Schools Office
o Communications & Public Relations
• Develop and implement strategies, goals, and initiatives aligned with the mission and the priorities established by the Bishop.
• Lead the creation and management of the Diocesan Strategic Plan.
• Facilitate and coordinate regular meetings of the Executive Team and Leadership Team, ensuring clear communication and alignment across departments.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the Bishop on administrative, strategic, and cultural matters.
• Working with Human Resources, oversee staff performance, morale, and development-cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and service.
• Ensure that all Curia operations are efficient, effective, and mission-aligned.
• Monitor the performance and culture of the Curia and take proactive steps to address issues as needed.
• Collaborate with other members of the Executive Team to ensure diocesan-wide goals and initiatives are met.

• Highly organized, with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Bachelor's degree required (advanced degree preferred) in business administration or a related field.
• Must be a practicing Catholic with a strong personal faith and a clear understanding that the primary mission of the Church is evangelization-ensuring all operations and initiatives support that mission.
