Job Description

The Assistant Controller is the department's Sage Intacct power user and technical backbone. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role drives month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis across multiple business segments (manufacturing, publishing, consulting, and software). The incumbent will lead the Sage Intacct implementation and optimization by configuring modules, building custom reports and dashboards, designing automations, ensuring data integrity, and providing training and change management for the finance team. Success in this role requires strong leadership mindset with the ability to partner cross-functionally to deliver timely, accurate insights that support strategic decision-making.

This role requires Sage Intacct experience, preferably as a power user who is eager to optimize systems, rebuild processes when needed, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making.

Job Functions:

Primary Responsibilities:

This role serves as OSV's Sage Intacct system owner for Accounting and is responsible for configuration, controls, reporting, automation, data integrity, and user adoption
Perform month end close duties within Sage Intacct for accounts payable/receivable, unearned revenue, and sales accruals
Manage company fixed assets, capital projects, and curriculum product development costs
Compile and reconcile monthly intercompany balances
Provide training and support to teammates, and proactively identify ways to assist the team during peak cycles to ensure team and organizational success
Accounting for donation and restricted grant activity
Must stay current on financial standards (GAAP) and document policies, procedures and accounting memos as requested
Cross-Functional & Backup Areas (The following areas represent cross-functional or backup responsibilities, not primary daily duties.):

Inventory & Warehouse Management Systems as well as calculating and compiling accurate monthly obsolescence reports
Royalty contracts and payments
New business pricing analysis and pro-formas
Assist with annual budget & financial statement audit
Requirements:

Experience:

Five years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Sage Intacct, ideally as a power user capable of building custom reports, dashboards, and automations; experience leading process improvements or system optimizations in Intacct strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead process improvements and train others on system requirements
Experience providing training and change management support to other users
Energetic, self-motivated, deadline oriented, and highly ethical person who projects a professional image
Experience with intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments is a plus
Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance
CPA preferred, but not required
Lean management/production coursework is a plus
