Job Description
Holy Spirit Regional Catholic School, in Huntsville, Alabama serves over 400 students in grades PreK-4 through 8 grade. Our student to teacher ratio is 16:1, which provides our students with quality, individualized learning. Holy Spirit Parish is a vibrant parish in Huntsville and is the primary parish in Madison County that provides Mass for the growing Latino community. Holy Spirit Regional Catholic School is grounded in the Catholic faith, providing an education strongly rooted in Catholic values, promoting excellence in the whole person for each student.
The school seeks to challenge students to be faith-filled individuals as they discover and utilize their gifts and talents through academic success and service to others. Our new leader will have the opportunity to build on the school's strong reputation for delivering a high quality Catholic education to PK - 8 students in the Catholic intellectual tradition and build upon the strong ties to the parishes served by the school. He or she will also build upon the school's strengths, and collaboratively work with the faculty and families to help advance the school's mission and achieve its goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Our principal serves as the school's spiritual, instructional, organizational, entrepreneurial, and community leader.
As spiritual leader, the principal serves as the chief witness of the evangelizing mission of the school assuring that the Catholic faith is lived out in all aspects of school life. The principal collaborates with the families of the school in fostering relationship with Christ for the students; supports faith formation activities for the staff and family; and advances the unique Catholic culture of the school.
As instructional leader, the principal assures that teaching and learning are connected to excellence, unique to the community being served and flow out from the Catholic intellectual traditions. The principal plans, prepares, and evaluates the instructional program; encourages instruction which meets the various needs and abilities of the students; and facilitates the professional growth of faculty and staff.
As organizational leader, the principal selects, supervises, and evaluates staff; collaborates with the school advisory board and local pastors in strategic planning efforts; ensures effective and relevant use of personnel resources; works with the school board to implement policies, budgets, and other institutional practices; and assures that the unique nature of the school is considered in all decisions.
As entrepreneurial leader, the principal is responsible for implementing good business practices, development and enrollment efforts, human resource/personnel management, professional formation, facilities maintenance and enhancement, institutional advancement, and contemporary communication.

Spirit Regional Catholic School
-Has a clear understanding of the benefits of a Catholic education
taught and an understanding of how to advance this in all aspects of school life.
-Has a desire to build the faith community of the school in alignment with the local parishes and in representing the areas growing and changing demographics
-Has a minimum of a Master's Degree and demonstrated leadership skills within an educational and/or corporate setting
-Exercises leadership and vision
-Demonstrates superior written and verbal communication skills
-Develops and fosters the unique characteristics of the Holy Spirit Regional Catholic School community among local parishes, students, faculty, staff, parents, board members, alumni, and donors
-Contributes time and effort to institutional advancement: admissions, marketing, and fundraising
-Assures compliance with all laws and regulations, accreditation requirements, and internal policies and procedures
Preferred attributes:
-Experience teaching and administration at the primary or secondary educational level in a Catholic classical school
-Experience in church-related ministry with an understanding of nature of a Catholic education
-Demonstrated record of leadership ability and accomplishments
-Outstanding poise, presence, and communication skills
-Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of constituents
-Demonstrated experience in planning and supervision of strategic initiatives
