Job Description
Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an immediate opening for a qualified, versatile, and collaborative Pianist/ Accompanist/ Musical Drama Director. This position includes accompanying two chorus classes, providing piano instruction to students at multiple skill levels, and possibly serving as the Music Director for our annual Drama Musical Production. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong musicianship, a passion for music education, and the ability to work closely with both students and faculty in a dynamic school environment. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.Responsibilities include:
• Accompany two curricular choral ensembles during rehearsals and performances.
• Instruct two sections of piano classes individually and in small groups, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
• Provide vocal coaching and support for the cast, with a focus on musical interpretation, diction, and pitch accuracy.
• Serve as Music Director for the school musical, including score preparation, leading music rehearsals, and collaborating with the stage director and choreographer and coordinate and direct pit musicians, as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Music or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Demonstrated experience accompanying vocal and instrumental ensembles.
• Experience teaching piano in private or group settings.
• Proficiency in sight-reading, score preparation, and collaborative playing.
• Strong understanding of vocal pedagogy to effectively coach student performers.
• Experience in musical theatre and/or directing student productions preferred.
• Conducting experience preferred (choral and/or instrumental).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.
• Organizational skills to manage rehearsal schedules and production deadlines.
• Flexibility, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset.
