SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS INTERN

The Basilica of Saint Mary is offering a paid summer internship for a college student or college-aged young adult who desires to grow in leadership, ministry, and evangelization while serving the parish community.

The intern will assist with youth programming, evangelization initiatives, and the planning and execution of summer events. This internship provides hands-on experience in parish ministry, youth leadership, event coordination, and Catholic evangelization while working closely with parish staff, volunteers, and youth leaders.

This internship is offered through the parish Offices of Youth & Young Adult Apostolates and Religious Education.

SCHEDULE
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Mid-May through early August
- Combination of daytime office work and evening/weekend ministry events
- Estimated 220-240 hours total over the course of the internship

PRIMARY AREAS OF FOCUS
The intern will primarily support the planning and execution of the parish's summer youth programs, especially Vacation Bible School and middle school and high school summer formation initiatives, including counselor leadership programs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with planning, preparation, and implementation of Vacation Bible School
- Assist with counselor programs, including preparation, logistics, and support during the week of camp
- Assist with youth ministry events and evangelization initiatives throughout the summer
- Provide administrative and logistical support, including preparing materials, updating the website, and communicating with families
- Help with event setup, execution, and cleanup
- Support additional projects or ministry needs as requested by parish staff

QUALIFICATIONS
- College student or college-aged young adult
- Practicing Catholic faithful to the teachings of the Church
- Desire to serve youth and grow in ministry leadership
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable with basic office tools such as Word and Excel
- Compliant with the Diocese of Arlington Office of Child Protection and Youth Protection (OCPYP) requirements, or willing to complete compliance before beginning the internship
