Office of Religious Education Assistant

The Basilica of Saint Mary has an opening for a part-time assistant to support the Office of Religious Education.

This is an in-person, hourly position in Old Town Alexandria, VA that works closely with parish staff and volunteers.

SCHEDULE
- Up to 20 hours per week
- Combination of weekday office hours and some evenings/weekends

PRIMARY AREAS OF FOCUS
The assistant will support the Office of Religious Education with completing sacramental records, updating files, sending notifications/communications to Diocesan offices and other parishes, and coordinates some RE events.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with completing sacramental records and files while maintaining confidentiality
- Provide administrative and logistical support, including preparing materials, communicating with various offices and families, and aiding various RE events
- Support additional projects or ministry needs as requested by parish staff

QUALIFICATIONS

- Practicing Catholic adult who is faithful to the teachings of the Church
- Desire to serve the Church, the Office of Religious Education and its ministries
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable with basic office tools such as Word and Excel
- Compliant with the Diocese of Arlington Office of Child Protection and Youth Protection (OCPYP) requirements, or willing to complete compliance
