Job Description
Holy Family Classical School seeks a faithful, joyful, and knowledgeable Third Grade Teacher to join our faculty in forming students intellectually, spiritually, and morally through a Catholic classical education. The Third Grade Teacher cultivates a classroom environment that encourages wonder, discipline, and a love of learning while guiding students in the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and classical pedagogy, the Third Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering a rich and integrated curriculum that supports students' academic growth and character formation. The teacher models virtue, fosters a strong classroom culture, and partners with families in the education of the child.
As a ministerial role, the Third Grade Teacher actively supports the mission of the school by witnessing to the teachings of the Catholic Church and helping students grow in wisdom and holiness.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subject areas including reading, writing, grammar, mathematics, history, religion, and science.
Implement curriculum aligned with the school's classical model and mission.
Foster strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, including structured reading and phonics instruction as appropriate.
Encourage habits of attention, diligence, and intellectual curiosity in students.
Use a variety of instructional methods consistent with classical pedagogy, including narration, memorization, discussion, and guided practice.
Classroom Culture & Student Formation
Establish and maintain a well-ordered classroom rooted in charity, respect, and virtue.
Model Catholic values and integrate prayer and faith into the rhythm of the school day.
Guide students in developing habits of responsibility, perseverance, and respect for others.
Provide appropriate supervision of students during classroom activities, transitions, and school events.
Assessment & Communication
Assess student learning through assignments, projects, and formative and summative assessments.
Maintain an organized and current gradebook and communicate student progress clearly with families.
Partner with parents through regular communication, conferences, and collaboration to support student growth.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
Collaborate with faculty and school leadership to support the school's academic program and mission.
Work closely with learning specialists to support students with diverse learning needs, helping implement accommodations and strategies that allow all students to succeed within the classroom.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Continue professional development in classical education and effective instructional practices.
Qualifications
Practicing Catholic in good standing who supports the teachings of the Church and models a life of virtue.
Bachelor's degree in elementary education or a related field required.
Teaching experience in an elementary classroom is preferred.
Strong classroom management skills and a love for working with children.
Experience in or willingness to learn classical teaching methods and Catholic classical education.
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Additional Requirements
Maintain compliance with diocesan requirements, including VIRTUS certification and child protection policies.
Adhere to the policies outlined in the Diocese of Tulsa Employee Handbook, the Diocese of Tulsa Catholic Schools Office Handbook, and the Holy Family Classical School Faculty and Staff Handbook.
Attend required meetings, school events, liturgies, and professional development as determined by school leadership.
