Job Description

The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator will lead Catholic Charities of East Tennessee's (CCETN) efforts to develop and expand components of the organization's volunteer program, as well as expanding outreach efforts. This position is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating volunteer recruitment and trainings, and organizing outreach opportunities to educate the community about CCETN programs and services specifically. The Volunteer Coordinator will incorporate best practices from the field of recruiting and maintaining volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

- Works with program staff to effectively recruit, retain, motivate and recognize volunteers
- Attend volunteer recruitment events and create collateral material to recruit volunteers
- Maintain ongoing communication with current volunteers
- Provide training opportunities for volunteers throughout the year
- Organize annual volunteer recognition event/opportunities to recognize volunteers
- Ensures volunteer records are maintained in an accurate, compliant and confidential manner
- Lead tabling opportunities in the community to educate about CCETN services and to recruit volunteers and supporters
- Host trainings for community members and organizations
- Work with leadership to create policies and procedures for the volunteer program
- Develop and implement a volunteer program that aligns with CCETN mission and goals
- Recruit and assign volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills, interests, and availability
- Ensure all volunteers complete pre-service requirements
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and accomplishments
- Develop and implement a volunteer recognition program
- Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

- Must be able to move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Must hold a valid driver license and provide proof of auto insurance coverage
- Must be willing to travel if required
- Must be flexible and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if required
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
- Must maintain any training and certification requirements
- Must support the teachings of the Catholic Church and embody our organization's mission and culture through behavior and daily interactions
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required

Job Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field is preferred
- Knowledge of community, and proven collaborative partner in community initiatives across a spectrum of human services
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated through positive customer service skills, and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds
- The ability to take initiative and independently manage the details of the volunteer program, to track volunteers, meet deadlines and evaluate success
- Demonstrated problem solving and self-starting skills
- Ability to show flexibility and creativity in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Excellent communication skills, as demonstrated by open and clear communication
- Effective conflict resolution, particularly relative to working with clients in crisis
- Disciplined and able to maintain confidentiality
- Creative self-starter with ability to work independently as well as thrive as a volunteer team leader
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Bloomerang and Give Pulse a plus
