Job Overview:
St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School, a Catholic, co-educational secondary school in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated New York State Certified Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both Living Environment (Biology) and Earth Science to high school students in accordance with the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS).
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver engaging and rigorous instruction in Living Environment and Earth Science aligned with NYSSLS.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to the intellectual, social, and spiritual development of students.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on labs, technology integration, and inquiry-based learning.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; provide timely and constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration.
• Incorporate Catholic values and the school's mission into daily classroom interactions.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide activities.
Qualifications:
• Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Biology and Earth Science (Grades 7-12) required.
• Bachelor's degree in Science Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Demonstrated knowledge of NYSSLS and best practices in science instruction.
• Ability to teach both Biology and Earth Science effectively.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, faith-based learning environment.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Prior high school teaching experience preferred.
Salary: 49,000 - 60,000
