THE OPPORTUNITY
The Religious of Jesus and Mary is seeking a dedicated and versatile Office Manager and Receptionist to serve as the administrative heartbeat of its administrative offices in Northeast DC. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven professional to play an essential, highly visible role in promoting the mission of the RJM USA-Haiti Province.
This role is far more than a front-desk position. You will be the first face visitors see, the voice callers hear, and the hand behind every bulletin, newsletter, and digital communication that goes out to our community. You will keep the office running efficiently, support leadership with administrative precision, and ensure every interaction reflects the warmth, integrity, and spirit of the Religious of Jesus and Mary.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first 90 days, you will:
--Build relationships with staff, ministry leaders, and community members, earning their trust through warmth and reliability
--Master the office's systems, schedules, and communication channels
--Take ownership of daily operations, correspondence, and community publications
--Establish consistent processes for office supply management, records, and event coordination
Within your first year, you will:
--Serve as a trusted administrative partner to the Executive Secretary and broader leadership team
--Assist in the production and distribution high-quality --communications and publications that reflect our mission and values
--Streamline and strengthen office systems for greater efficiency and consistency
--Build and manage an organized media archive and digital presence that strengthens community connection
--Support the planning and execution of events, workshops, and seasonal gatherings
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Office Management & Administrative Support
--Oversee daily office operations and maintain an organized, efficient, and welcoming workspace
--Manage office supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships
--Maintain staff calendars and coordinate meetings, appointments, and scheduling
--Prepare correspondence, reports, and internal documents with accuracy and discretion
--Maintain confidential records, including membership, donor, and volunteer files
--Assist with event coordination, including community gatherings, workshops, and services
Reception & Community Relations
--Serve as the primary receptionist: answer phones, respond to emails, and greet all visitors with warmth and professionalism
--Provide accurate information about services, programs, and upcoming events
--Direct inquiries appropriately to staff or ministry leaders
--Handle sensitive or pastoral requests with discretion and compassion
--Support hospitality efforts for visitors, guests, and community members
Communications
--Prepare and distribute bulletins, newsletters, and community announcements
--Maintain and update the website and social media platforms to keep content current and engaging
--Draft promotional materials and digital communications that reflect our mission and voice
--Manage email communications and mailing lists with care and accuracy
--Coordinate internal and external communications to ensure clarity and consistency across all channels
Publications & Media Support
--Design and format printed and digital publications with attention to quality and brand consistency
--Coordinate printing and distribution of materials for community and ministry use
--Assist with annual reports, special publications, and seasonal materials
--Maintain and organize a photo and media archive
--Support livestream or digital content efforts as needed
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
--Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in a business-related field
--2+ years of experience in administrative, office management, or communications roles
--Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Outlook
--Experience with email marketing platforms and social media management
--Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail
--Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred
--Experience working in a faith-based or nonprofit environment
--Graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Publisher, or similar)
--Website management experience (WordPress or similar platforms)
--Basic bookkeeping knowledge
--Familiarity with the Catholic Church and Women Religious communities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The target salary for this role is $50,000 and will be adjusted depending on candidate's experience. The Religious of Jesus and Mary also offers a generous benefits package, including health insurance, retirement benefits, and paid leave.
This is an in-person, on-site role. Evening or weekend availability may be required on occasion to support community events and special gatherings.
