Job Description

Houseware/Clothing/Linen/Accessories/Shoes/Jewelry

Division/Location/Department: Fairview Heights, Illinois National Store
Reports To: Production Manager
Pay Grade: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour based on experience
Status and Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday through Friday 7:30am-3:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:
This employee will be a key member of the production team, which is tasked with sorting, hanging, pricing and redistributing donated items for our Society of St. Vincent de Paul National Store in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

• Check clothing items for quality and resale-ability: style, wear, and cleanliness (no rips, stains, missing buttons, or loose threads). Miscellaneous items should be sorted, and items priced and cleaned before going to the sales floor.
• Maintain production quotas in one of several workstations, including:
o Hang clothing on hangers
o Pack seasonal items away in gaylords
o Price clothing, linens and/or accessories for resale. All items priced on the left sleeve or waste band.
o Shoes sorted for quality and priced competitively.
o All shoes should be cleaned and priced on the bottom of the shoe with a grease pencil as well as a sticker.
o Linens sorted and hung on the correct hanger to better display the merchandise.
o Linen should be tagged in the corner so it is easy to find the tag.
o Jewelry items are to sorted and displayed in black boxes or hanging T Bars to show them better.
• Knowledgeable about fashions, fabrics, styles, and brand names or able to learn as you go to up price more valuable items
• Able to work cooperatively in a team setting and preform other duties as assigned
• Knowledgeable about items belonging to the miscellaneous department and their resale value and quality
• Flexible with job changes, willing and able to do other tasks when requested
• Capable of making speedy and accurate judgments of miscellaneous items based on quality control information received during training or current needs of the store
• Help maintain cleanliness of Processing Center, perform assigned cleaning duties, and restock production supplies as needed
• Play an integral role in fostering a culture of equity and inclusion within the organization
• Adhere to the Safeguarding Policy by ensuring timely completion of mandatory training and staying updated on relevant training modules to maintain compliance

Daily assignments will rotate based on staffing and operational needs. An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job:
• Employees must have the ability to maintain professional, patient, and courteous communications with a diverse base of customers, donors, clients and other SVdP staff
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Must have enough vision to perform duties and responsibilities
• Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds with assistance from equipment or another person
• Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties
• Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The SVdP Store working environment may contain dust, debris or allergens commonly associated with all manner of pre-owned clothing, furniture and household goods. Certain areas of the SVdP Store are only partially climate controlled.
