Job Description
Overview of PositionThe Director of Operations (DOO) serves as the chief administrative officer of the parish, working in close collaboration with the Pastor. The DOO ensures that the operational, financial, and facility needs of the parish are well-managed, so that pastoral staff and parishioners can focus on mission and ministry. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management in reception, finance, human resources, facilities, and communications. The Director of Operations also leads, disciples, coaches, and supervises his/her multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Serve as a member of the Pastor's leadership team to align operations with mission and vision. Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures that foster hospitality, simplicity, and responsibility. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Pastor regarding long-term planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
Finance & Stewardship: Oversee financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow. Supervise in-house accountant and outsourced financial services, payroll, and bill payment systems. Ensure compliance with diocesan financial policies and applicable civil regulations. Support stewardship initiatives by communicating financial transparency to parishioners.
Facilities & Operations: Oversee facility use, maintenance, and capital projects across parish and school campuses. Manage contracts with vendors and service providers. Supervise the facility manager to establish safety, security, and emergency response procedures.
Human Resources: Collaborate with diocesan HR on hiring, onboarding, and performance management. Support a positive work culture ensuring compliance with employment laws and diocesan guidelines. Provide training, support, and accountability for staff.
Communication & Administration: Supervise communication & administrative staff, providing clarity of roles and expectations. Streamline processes for effective information sharing between staff, leadership, and parishioners. Oversee baptism, funeral, marriage, and quinceanera administrative workflows.
Qualifications:
Be a disciple of Jesus Christ who prays and seeks to life their life according to Jesus' and His Church's teachings.
Undergraduate degree or Master's degree in business adminstration or equivalent
Bilingual English & Spanish preferred
5+ years of Managerial experience
5+ years of Business Administration or Operations experience
Work Environment:
Salaried for 40 hours a week, generally from 8:30am-4:30pm M-F, with one evening or one Saturday commitment a month.
