St. John the Evangelist Parish in Goshen, Indiana invites applicants for a full-time position of Co-Director of Sacred Music in English. We seek an excellent musician and a committed Catholic to help inspire and lead a multicultural parish of 1,000 families in participating in sacred music and in enhancing the spiritual and sacramental life of the parish. This mission would unfold under the supervision of the Pastor and alongside the Co-Director of Sacred Music for Spanish.

St. John's has a long tradition of beautiful liturgies and sacred music. We have 3 weekend Masses in English, each of which make varied use of chanted propers, antiphon hymns using the proper texts and accompanying psalm verses, Gregorian-based responsorial psalms and Gospel acclamations, Marian antiphons, classical hymnody, choral anthems and motets, Gregorian and chant-based ordinaries (including a sung Creed), and organ repertoire and improvisation. We seek someone with a deep relationship with the Lord, rooted in prayer, who will guide others into an encounter with Christ through the Church's treasury of sacred music.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the pastor, parish staff, and the Co-Director of Sacred Music for Spanish to ensure that the liturgies reflect the dignity and beauty of the Roman Rite
- Plan, coordinate, and perform music for parish liturgies in English, including:
- Sunday Masses (4:30 p.m. Saturday, 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday)
- Holy Days of Obligation
- Solemnities
- Weddings and Funerals (with extra stipend)
- School Masses (typically Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.)
- Other important liturgical celebrations throughout the year
- Play organ accompaniment at Mass and other liturgical events (3-manual Rogers Infinity 367 digital organ), including organ improvisation
- Recruit, direct, rehearse, and schedule the adult choir and cantors
- Establish and direct a school children's choir with regular rehearsals and performances throughout the school year
- Assist in educating parishioners about the liturgy through worship aids and music selection
- Be an outstanding pastoral presence in the parish
- Other duties as assigned by the pastor

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in sacred music or related field; or extensive experience in mining the musical patrimony of the Church
- Candidates who speak Spanish will be given particular consideration in order to coordinate with the co-Director of Sacred Music and other musicians for Spanish Masses
- Applicants with proficiency in teaching and conducting Gregorian chant and music to both adults as well as children will be given particular consideration
- An ability to draw out the musical talents within the parish
