Job Description

Located in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and canonically established by Archbishop Paul Coakley in 2025, St. Monica Catholic Academy is a newly founded Catholic classical school in Edmond, Oklahoma, opening in fall 2026. It will begin with grades PreK4 through 2nd grade, expanding one grade level annually toward a full PreK-12 program. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and a classical liberal arts curriculum, the academy's mission centers on forming the whole person through a joyful encounter with Jesus Christ through daily Mass, a rich sacramental life, and the harmonious integration of faith, reason, and culture. It emphasizes the careful cultivation of intellectual and moral virtues, the diligent practice of the manual arts, and a deep and abiding appreciation of the timeless treasures of Christendom, preparing students not as mere efficient workers but as truly free citizens of the earthly city and saints destined for Heaven.

Position Overview
We seek a devoted, enthusiastic Catholic educator to join our faculty of friends and serve as the lead teacher in our inaugural Second Grade classroom. In the grammar stage of classical education, the teacher will delight in young children's natural wonder, foster ordered habits of learning and virtue, and integrate the Catholic faith across all subjects to form scholars and saints from the earliest years.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, integrated lessons in core areas using a classical Catholic approach
- Cultivate a classroom of order, kindness, attention, and joy grounded in Gospel values and virtue formation.
- Assess progress through classical methods (narration, recitation, dictation) alongside developmental tools.
- Partner closely with parents as primary educators, communicating regularly and charitably.
- Participate in faculty formation, school liturgical life, community events, and ongoing professional growth in classical Catholic pedagogy.

Qualifications
- Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church, with a deep love for the sacraments and the Magisterium, and willingness to take an "Oath of Fidelity".
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, liberal arts, theology, or related field; classical training or Montessori training preferred.
- Experience teaching early elementary grades (classical or Catholic school experience highly desired; enthusiasm for classical methods essential even if new to the approach).
- Strong understanding of classical education principles, especially the grammar stage, integrated curriculum, and virtue education.
- Warmth, patience, creativity, and effective classroom management for young children.
- Commitment to personal growth in the Catholic liberal arts tradition through reading, workshops, and mentorship.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.

Preferred Attributes
- Familiarity with classical Catholic curricula (e.g., Memoria Press, Classical Academic Press, Faith and Life, Singapore Math, or similar).
- Passion for incorporating beauty, music, art, nature, and manual skills into daily learning.
- Excitement to help launch and shape a pioneering PreK-12 classical Catholic school.

What We Offer
- Opportunity to pioneer a mission-driven classical Catholic school from its founding year.
- Small class sizes in a supportive, faith-filled environment with daily Mass and spiritual nourishment.
- Mentorship and professional development in classical pedagogy.
- Competitive salary and benefits package (commensurate with experience; aligned with Archdiocese standards).
- Collaborative community focused on forming students in wisdom, virtue, and wonder.
