Job Title: Youth Ministry Program Coordinator
Reports to: Pastoral Associate for Youth Ministry
Details: Part-time, hourly
ABOUT THE EMPLOYER

Our Youth Ministry program is committed to creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where young people can explore their faith, build meaningful relationships, and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. We are multicultural with a substantial Hispanic community. We are located in northern New Jersey, approximately 30 minutes from New York City. We are part of the Archdiocese of Newark.
SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating various aspects of the Youth Ministry program. They are responsible for the planning and implementing of social events and activities, outreach events and service projects, as well as coordinating prayer events to deepen the faith.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and organize engaging social events and activities for youth. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create a diverse calendar of events. Handle all aspects of planning & execution.
Develop and oversee outreach programs and service projects to engage youth in community service and social justice initiatives. Collaborate with local organizations and charities to identify service opportunities.
Handle all aspects of Confirmation service projects by communicating with teens and parents, developing service ideas, assisting with the execution of the projects, fundraisers, and donations.
Plan and execute moments of prayer such as: prayer services, adoration, and other liturgical experiences.
Identify and nurture leadership potential among youth participants who can serve as Peer Ministers. Assist with leadership training, communication, and leadership development.
Foster a sense of teamwork and dedication among volunteers.
Build meaningful relationships with youth participants, providing pastoral care and support as needed.
Create a safe and welcoming space. Introduce ideas that help teens feel connected to the Catholic faith.
Collaborate with staff to plan and execute retreat activities, prayer moments, and small group sessions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastoral Associate for Youth Ministry; Work closely with the Youth Ministry Program Coordinator to prepare for programs and events.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Is an active Catholic, fully formed in the teachings of the Catholic Church, and has a visible commitment to living his or her life according to those teachings.
Finds joy in working with young people and families.
Ability to minister Catholic discipleship, evangelization, and formation with a humble, joyful attitude.
Ability to quickly learn, implement contemporary practices in the area of youth ministry & faith formation.
Organized with a good sense of time management
A strong work ethic that includes working effectively to meet timelines.
Computer and social media literacy.
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events and activities.
