Job Description
General Summary:The Youth Formation Coordinator is a ministerial position that:
-empowers young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world
-assists parents in the continued spiritual formation of their families, thus building up the Kingdom of God through the domestic church
-promotes active participation of the parish's youth both in the liturgical, devotional and evangelical life of the parish and within youth group
-fosters the total person and spiritual growth of each young person
-collaborates with parish formation team as well as the faculties of Catholic schools to ensure integrity and continuity in parish's efforts to evangelize and form
Jesus Christ is the exemplary and primary teacher of the Catholic faith and the Catholic Church was instituted by Christ for the articulation of His Gospel of salvation; the Youth Formation Coordinator is a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and of His Church. He/she is required to convey the Church's message and to assist in carrying out the Church's mission, which is always and everywhere the salvation of souls. He/ she is required to uphold the standards of the Catholic Church in his/her day-to- day work and personal life. All parish personnel are expected to be persons of integrity and must conduct themselves in an honest and open way, free from deception or corruption and in a manner consistent with the discipline and teachings of the Catholic Church. Parish personnel are expected to follow rules of conduct that will protect the interests and safety of all, including the standards set forth in Diocesan and Parish Policies and Guidelines.
Key Responsibility Areas
Formation of Youth in Grades 6 through 12
The Youth Formation Coordinator - under the guidance of the Pastor and Director of Formation and Education and formed by Bishop Konderla's pastoral letters God Builds a House and Jesus Is Lord - envisions, implements and refines a disciple-based model of catechesis and formation that draws on best practices and includes parents so that the youth of St Anne can continue to deepen their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ at home, in the parish and in the community.
• Plan and facilitate separate Youth Group nights for 6th through 8th grades and 9th through 12th grades, incorporating small discipleship groups
• Serve as resource, coach and mentor for youth
• Incorporate social events into Youth Group meetings that engage youth and allow them to build holy friendships
• Plan and facilitate service opportunities that enable youth to serve community and that form them in the Church's social vision
• Plan and facilitate two annual summer youth trips: one mission trip directed toward service and one discipleship trip directed toward formation and evangelization
• Organize and oversee fundraising efforts to help subsidize annual trips
• Lead contingent of St Anne youth at vicariate- and diocesan-wide youth events
• Conduct "Donut Evangelization" with parish youth at All Saints Catholic School, Broken Arrow public schools and other Catholic schools that serve our youth (eg, Bishop Kelley, Cascia Hall, Monte Cassino, Holy Family Cathedral School)
• Work with Director of Formation and Education and Family Formation Coordinator to provide formation to youth who lack Baptism or who have not received First Reconciliation or First Holy Communion
• Communicate weekly plans clearly with parents via Flocknote, phone, e-mail and in person
• Assist the Family Formation Coordinator in planning and facilitating Vacation Bible School and Totus Tuus
• Support Family Formation Coordinator and participate in parish's Family Formation activities
• Support Communio Coordinator and participate in parish's ministry to singles, engaged couples, spouses and widow(er)s
• Connect with families new to parish and parish life
• Available to support pastor in counseling/references
• Connect parents and families with appropriate ministries/services, advocating for them when necessary
• Initiate, develop and maintain a personal relationship with families through a variety of activities
• Assess effectiveness of Youth Formation programs and provide feedback to the Pastor and Director of Formation and Education
• Serve as spokesman and enthusiastically promote Youth Formation ministries and to inform the broader parish community about Youth Formation
• Coordinate and attend annual events to foster and build whole-parish fellowship and outreach
Volunteer and Catechist Leadership
The Youth Formation Coordinator, under the guidance of the Pastor and Director of Formation and Education, recruits, develops and coordinates a team of volunteers and catechists necessary to build and maintain vibrant formational outreach. He/She ensures that St Anne Youth is in alignment with national and diocesan standards and is committed to assisting adult volunteers to continue to grow in their faith as they serve the parish's youth.
• Recruit, develop and form a comprehensive team of adults who are rooted in the New Evangelization's call to make Missionary Disciples
• Promote and maintain Safe Environment and VIRTUS certification among youth team
• Form a team of volunteers specifically to provide food for youth events
• Plan and host events both for volunteer formation and volunteer appreciation
Parish and Diocesan Collaboration
The Youth Formation Coordinator, under the guidance of the Pastor and Director of Formation and Education, communicates, collaborates and integrates with pastoral staff of St Anne, as well as of the Diocese of Tulsa and other parishes, to support life-long formation and catechesis
• Attend weekly parish staff meetings
• Participate in ongoing staff development, prayer and formation
• Represent St Anne at diocesan formation and youth events
• Collaborate with the Diocese of Tulsa's Department of Evangelization and Catechesis and obtain appropriate support from the local Church
• Participate in all weekend liturgies and major parish events where youth are present
• Communicate with diocesan Vocations Director to foster awareness of priestly and religious vocations and with diocesan Director of Family Life to foster awareness of the vocation of marriage
Qualifications
• Familiarity with forming and willingness to form disciples, especially of children
• Availability that allows for work at night and on weekends
• Servant's heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity
• Passion and aptitude for youth ministry
• Passion for connecting church and home
• Experience leading small groups
• Ability to recruit, train, and oversee volunteers
• Ability to develop and implement strategic processes
• Knowledge of and ability to articulate the Church's sacramental, ecclesial, moral and spiritual theology and how they apply to the faithful, especially youth
• Active and deep faith with full participation in the communal worship and life of the Church
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently with great organizational and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills-knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
• Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
• Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, volunteers, parish families, and other supporters maintaining positive relationships on all levels
• Exercises considerable independence and judgment
• Ability to face situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights and privacy of others

• Willing and ready to go above and beyond expectations including working extra hours during the busy seasons of parish life
• If not already certified, VIRTUS certification to be completed within 7 days of employment, and before interaction with children or vulnerable adults
• Successfully pass the required BCI/FBI background check prior to employment and every five years
• Maintain a valid driver's license
• Preferred: fluency in Spanish
