Job Description
DescriptionSeeking to foster the vibrancy of faith life at Saint Mary's College, the Campus Minister builds student ministry opportunities aimed at accompaniment, outreach, evangelization, and faith formation. An integral leader in the Center for Faith, Action, and Ministry team, the Campus Minister contributes to creating a culture of welcome, hospitality, and belonging across differences and promotes faith development in the context of Catholic and Holy Cross higher education. The Campus Minister leads compelling Catholic ministry opportunities and collaborates with the CFAM team to support ecumenical and interreligious outreach and justice programming.
The Campus Minister provides an engaging campus presence and supports students across all stages of faith, guiding the direction of faith formation and the building of faith communities through leadership in three primary areas: small groups, retreats, and sacramental preparation processes. The Campus Minister facilitates a missionary discipleship formation process aimed at inviting, training, and supporting students as intentional disciples and expanding small faith-sharing groups across campus. The Campus Minister implements a robust retreat program for students with an emphasis on (1) building enduring community, (2) exploring specific theological content informed by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the charism of Holy Cross, and (3) providing practices that help to nurture the spiritual formation of students at all stages of faith. The Campus Minister facilitates sacramental preparation processes through both the OCIA and adult Confirmation preparation, creating opportunities for the larger Catholic faith community to participate in the task of initiatory catechesis in meaningful ways.
The Campus Minister provides pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students of diverse backgrounds on an ongoing basis and works to ensure that ministry programming is relevant to the pastoral and spiritual needs of the student population. In particular, this position will be instrumental in guiding Latine ministry initiatives and attending to the needs of women in the life of the Church. This position provides support for regular faith community nights that explore topics within Catholicism that are meaningful to young adults and inviting to all. In collaboration with the CFAM ministry team, this position thinks creatively about and supports outreach and evangelization efforts on campus, such as ministry pop ups, tabling events, and multifaith socials. The Campus Minister explores pilgrimage opportunities in the Holy Cross tradition.
The Campus Minister supervises the Catholic priest chaplain team and teams of student leaders including: student interns for Catholic outreach and Latine ministry, small group leaders, retreat leaders, and volunteer catechists. The Campus Minister works closely with the Director of CFAM in contributing to the formation of Ministry Assistants and other CFAM student leaders.
The Campus Minister works closely with the Director and other CFAM leaders for strategic planning, budgeting, and leadership of faith and justice initiatives of the Center. The position participates in ministry team meetings and contributes to the collective work of the Center for Faith, Action and Ministry in an effort to further the mission of Saint Mary's as a Catholic and Holy Cross institution.
