Are you passionate about fostering encounters with Jesus, forming disciples, and helping families encounter Jesus Christ in a deeper way? St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church is seeking a full-time Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead our dynamic faith formation program for children and middle school youth (grades K-8).Who We Are:
We are a vibrant, diverse parish of over 5,000 families in Simpsonville, SC, with a growing Religious Education program serving more than 1,000 children and teens each year. Our mission is simple but bold: to invite people to encounter Jesus, to make disciples, build community, and send people on mission.
About the Role:
The Director of Religious Education will:
Lead with Vision: Provide direction and support to a strong formation team, including two full-time coordinators-an Elementary Coordinator (responsible for K5, First Reconciliation, and First Communion) and a Middle School/Confirmation Coordinator (responsible for grades 6-8 and the Sacrament of Confirmation).
Form Disciples: Shape programs for sacramental preparation that lead students and families to true encounter with Christ.
Inspire and Support: Recruit, train, and walk alongside volunteer catechists, equipping them to share the faith with joy and confidence.
Dream Big: Collaborate with clergy, staff, and ministry leaders to integrate faith formation into the broader mission of the parish-helping our community live as disciples in every aspect of life.
What We're Looking For:
A committed Catholic with a passion for evangelization and discipleship
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or related field or relevant experience in religious education
2+ years of experience in parish religious education or pastoral ministry
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
A heart for collaboration and a vision for where God is leading His Church
