Job Description
The Youth Ministry Programs Assistant is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and execution of youth ministry programs for middle and high school students. This position works closely with the Director of Youth Ministry to design engaging programs that align with the mission of the parish and foster spiritual growth in young people. Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Execution
• Coordinate youth ministry programs including weekly gatherings, retreats, service projects, small groups, and diocesan events
• Collaborate with the Director to design activities that foster faith formation and youth engagement
Event Management
• Oversee the planning and implementation of events, ensuring all spiritual, social, and logistical needs are met
• Organize transportation, supplies, and venue logistics for youth programs and retreats
Volunteer Support & Communication
• Assist with recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers for events and activities
• Maintain consistent communication with youth, parents, and volunteers to support program success
Administrative & Budget Support
• Manage event registrations, attendance tracking, and follow-up communication
• Assist with budget preparation and ensure thoughtful stewardship of resources
• Help maintain youth ministry communication platforms (email, website, social media, bulletin content)
Mission Alignment & Collaboration
• Ensure all programs reflect the values and mission of the parish and Diocese of Arlington
• Work in a team environment with parish staff, clergy, and ministry leaders
Qualifications:
• Active, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
• Experience in youth ministry, Catholic education, camps, or a related field
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff, families, and volunteers
• Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in ministry, education, theology, or related field preferred, but not required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required
Additional Requirements:
• Must be compliant with Diocesan Safe Environment requirements (background check and VIRTUS training)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs. and work at a desk or computer for extended periods
