Diocese of Orange, Pastoral CenterPOSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Life, Justice, and Peace
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-Time
DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Life, Justice, and Peace
REPORTS TO: Director of Life, Justice, and Peace
SCHEDULE: 9am - 5pm, occasional evenings and weekends
PAY RANGE: $68,640 to $80,753
Based on experience, education and qualifications.
Summary The Office of Life, Justice, and Peace promotes the Church's social doctrine in fidelity to the Magisterium, and advocates for life, justice, and peace in Orange County, especially through the promotion of pro-life causes. This position will be responsible for carrying out the vision and objectives of the Diocese of Orange, as set out for the office by the Director of Life, Justice, and Peace. This includes working closely with the Director to develop special programs and events, develop and execute a communications strategy, and to manage and foster relationships with pastors, clergy, and other parish representatives and donors, collaborating with relevant offices within the Diocese, as well as outside organizations.
Responsibilities: Because all Roman Catholic Bishop of Orange employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
The position of Associate Director of Life, Justice, Peace works closely with the Director to fulfill the following duties:
• Develop, plan, coordinate, and evaluate Office of Life, Justice, and Peace programs and initiatives to achieve established goals and participation targets.
• Develop and coordinate communications, outreach, and relationships with clergy, parishes, schools, and external partners to support collaboration and goals.
• Develop and execute creative events to engage the people of the Diocese of Orange and promote Catholic social teaching, including coordinating logistics, materials, vendor services, and speakers.
• Develop and deliver educational presentations, training, and promotional materials to increase engagement and understanding of LJP initiatives.
• Manage databases to ensure 100% accuracy of contact records, acknowledgments, and reporting data.
• Prepare and reconcile donation receipts, expense reports, and check requests; maintain accurate financial tracking to support budgeting and audits.
• Manage, monitor, and update digital platforms (website, social media, newsletters) to ensure timely and accurate communication of program information.
• Track and report key program metrics, including participation levels, donations received, and engagement results, for quarterly and annual reviews.
• Assist in the development of strategic plans, policies, and annual objectives for the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace.
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned by the Director of Life, Justice, and Peace.

• Physical Requirements/Work Environment: To perform duties of the job, the employee may on a regular basis be required to stand, sit, talk, hear/listen, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard and other office equipment. Close vision requirements apply due to the nature of computer work.
DESIRED: Bachelor's / Master's degree in Theology or Public Policy or a related field. Five years demonstrated experience working in the Catholic Church. Graphic design experience.
Work Conditions
• The position primarily involves work in an office setting within the parish premises, requiring frequent use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, credit card swipe, postage machine, and filing systems.
• Evening and weekend work is required to accommodate parish programs and events.
• Must be available to adjust the schedule as needed to meet the needs of ministry activities.
• Regular interaction with children, youth, adults, and volunteers in a professional and faith-based environment.
• Some local travel may be required for parish and diocesan meetings or events.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative tasks.
• Frequent walking, standing, and moving around the parish campus to support programs and events.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, such as program materials, supplies, and event setups.
• Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment, creating materials, and managing paperwork.
• Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and parishioners in person, via email, and by phone.
• Must be able to set up and dismantle chairs, tables, and other equipment needed for parish activities as required.
