Job Description
Prospect Development Senior ManagerCross Catholic Outreach is a Catholic ministry with an ecumenical staff of Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox believers working in unity to provide food, water, housing, education, orphan support, medical care, micro-enterprise, and disaster relief, and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the poorest of the poor in more than 30 countries around the world. Educational or Certification Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience Requirements:
• Demonstrated experience in prospect development required. Strong understanding of the guiding principles of fundraising and relationship management, as well as familiarity with database management principles, is required.
Position Summary:
The Prospect Development Manager oversees the Prospect Development team and partners with fundraising teams to support, prioritize, and provide strategic recommendations for fundraising activities in an effort to advance the mission and vision of Cross Catholic Outreach. This includes leading specific areas of prospect identification for major gifts, prospect management, analysis, and writing, as well as database and business process improvements to support these areas.
Strategic Analysis
• Supervise the Prospect Development team and lead its strategic development in line with the key objectives of CCO fundraising areas
• Maintain regular communication with frontline fundraising teams to ensure full understanding of business needs, providing support and systems to facilitate their activities
• Consistent partnership with fundraising teams to provide timely, accurate, and analytical insight to key stakeholders, including VP of Development, Sr. Director of Major Gifts, DPS Director, and other key program directors to support efficient business processes, priorities, and strategic business development
• Support the Donor Program Services team in analysis of system upgrades/enhancements, including development/modifications of reports and features to leverage data capture and use of the system; make recommendations regarding implementation, training, and adaptations to business processes to support those upgrades/enhancements
• Provide leadership in resolving issues related to the CRM system, making recommendations and/or adjustments to business processes when/where necessary
Major gift prospect identification
• Oversee the identification, research, and analysis of new prospects and existing donors for major gift cultivation and solicitation through review and strategic analysis of resources, including Donor Search, iWave, CCO's CRM database, online information, Google alerts, etc.
• Support information needs of Development Officers and management teams by overseeing and conducting proactive and reactive research profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundation prospects
• Using screening results and donor data, data mining, and modeling, develop and implement proactive strategies for donor pipelines and program recommendations
• Oversee proactive screenings and qualifications of new major donors incepting into the program
• Strategic collaboration with fundraising teams to monitor funding priorities to help identify potential partners and supporters
• Oversee the process of tracking and communicating out news and information about top prospects
• Oversee the composition of confidential, in-depth profiles on specific individuals, corporations, and foundations regarding financial assets, potential for philanthropic support, areas of interest, and other organizational affiliations
Prospect management
• Develop and oversee the analytic and reporting tools needed to manage donor/prospect pipelines that align directly to the objectives of key fundraising stakeholders, including the monitoring of pipelines and crossover between annual giving and major giving
• Support the development of well-prioritized and high-quality prospect pools for Development Officers
• Provide prospect management oversight and support for assigned donors/prospects through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycles, including a strong understanding of the role of prospect research during each of those stages
• Develop, maintain, and oversee procedures and reporting functions for the prospect research and manager program, including templates, research request tiers, tracking systems, and donor rating formulas
• Oversee the process of tracking and communicating out news and information about top donors
• Coordinate periodic training for the major gift team on prospect development/management topics
• Analyze portfolios of major gift officers, ensuring portfolios include ample prospects across all stages of development
• Produce and distribute ongoing and periodic research and management reports
Other responsibilities
• Engage in professional development with a keen interest in learning about new developments in the prospect development field by attending trainings, webinars, conferences, and maintaining memberships in professional organizations
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Character Required:
• Sound working knowledge of fundraising principles
• Ability to analyze data and produce strategic development recommendations, including donor giving history, wealth screenings, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in the fundamental basics of fundraising and donor lifecycles, including identification, cultivation, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship
• Ability to lead projects to completion and the ability to plan and set meaningful objectives, including the coordination and communication with various stakeholders to support strategic initiatives to increase revenue and donor engagement
• Commitment to professional ethics in working with highly confidential, sensitive personal information
• Experience with research resources, including Wealth Engine, iWave, Foundation Center, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of data mining, prospect screening, and other wealth programs
• Knowledge of database management skills, experience in data integrity oversight
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
