Job Description

Job Title: Director of Faith Formation
Reports To: Pastor
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000
Location: On-site at Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Atlanta, GA)
Schedule: Must be available on Sundays; some evenings and holidays required

Position Summary:
The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Director of Faith Formation to lead and oversee the parish's comprehensive faith formation programs. This role is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of faith formation opportunities for children, teens, and adults, including sacramental preparation, youth ministry, OCIA/OCIT, and adult catechesis.
The Director ensures all initiatives are rooted in Catholic teachings and traditions, creating a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment for parishioners of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Oversight
• Design, implement, and evaluate formation programs for children, youth, and adults.
• Coordinate sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, OCIA, and OCIT.
• Collaborate with clergy, staff, and ministry leaders to ensure cohesive, parish-wide faith formation efforts.

Curriculum & Compliance
• Select and review program curricula in alignment with Archdiocesan guidelines and Church teachings.
• Ensure all content reflects authentic Catholic doctrine and is appropriate for each age group.

Volunteer Leadership
• Recruit, train, and support catechists, youth ministry leaders, and volunteers.
• Monitor compliance with parish and Archdiocesan safe environment requirements.

Communication & Community Engagement
• Promote programs through parish bulletins, newsletters, social media, and direct outreach.
• Foster a warm, inclusive, and faith-filled environment for all families and individuals.

Administrative & Budget Management
• Develop and manage program budgets responsibly.
• Maintain accurate records of participants, sacramental preparation, and volunteer certification.

Spiritual Leadership
• Serve as a mentor and spiritual guide for catechists, volunteers, and families.
• Support liturgical events and broader parish spiritual life as needed.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or related field.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep understanding of Catholic teachings.
• 3-5 years of experience in parish faith formation or religious education leadership.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media; familiarity with parish management software a plus.
• Willingness to work Sundays, some evenings, and occasional holidays.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to move around church facilities and attend off-site activities.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. as needed.

The parish operates a daily sandwich ministry, a Saturday soup kitchen and a weekly food pantry.
