Job Description
Position SummaryThe Shrine is seeking a full-time Business Manager to serve as the chief operating officer of the parish. Working closely with the Pastor, the Business Manager will oversee all non-liturgical operations of the church, ensuring the smooth and effective management of finances, human resources, facilities, and outreach support.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance & Administration
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Oversee ParishSoft Family Suite
- Serve as liaison to the Archdiocesan Finance Office
Human Resources
- Coordinate hiring, payroll, and terminations
- Ensure compliance with VIRTUS and Archdiocesan HR standards (including volunteers)
Operations & Facilities
- Oversee purchasing, vendor management, and building maintenance
- Familiarity with theater lighting/sound systems and industrial HVAC/boiler systems is a plus
IT & Technology
- Oversee telecommunications and IT systems
Community & Outreach
- coordinate facility use for 12-step recovery meetings and the seasonal men's shelter
- Support ongoing outreach programs, including daily sandwich ministry, food pantry, and soup kitchen
Supervision
- Manage a part-time business associate and a part-time administrative associate
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
- Proven experience in business and facilities management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business software tools
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, parishioners, volunteers, and community partners
- Resourceful and flexible in a busy urban ministry environment
Schedule & Expectations
- On-site presence required every Sunday to support parish operations (Mass attendance not required)
- Remaining weekly schedule to be set in coordination with the Pastor
