Job Description

Notre Dame Catholic Parish is hiring a full-time Director of Religious Education. The Director of Religious Education will play an essential role in the life of Notre Dame Catholic Parish and will be a part of a faithful, dynamic, enthusiastic team in the Southwest Denver area. The DRE will be the primary contact for the Sacramental preparation programs for children and adults, as well as for the youth ministry activities at Notre Dame Catholic Parish.

Primary duties will include:

• In collaboration with Pastor, plan, coordinate, and teach the catechetical content for children's Sacramental preparation and OCIA.
• Recruit and train catechists to assist with Sacramental preparation for children, pre-K through grade 8.
• Meet weekly to teach OCIA candidates.
• Meet weekly for children's Sacramental preparation during the school year.
• Schedule Baptism preparation classes and assist in scheduling Baptisms for priests and deacons.
• Plan annual retreats for children receiving First Holy Communion and Confirmation, as well as one for OCIA candidates prior to the Easter Vigil.
• Serve as primary point of contact between Notre Dame Parish and the Archdiocesan Youth Ministry Office.
• Coordinate Notre Dame youth attending special events such as Vacation Bible School, Mountain Madness retreat, and Steubenville of the Rockies.
• Order curriculum materials to use for Sacramental preparation.
• Schedule and lead parent informational meetings for children in Sacramental preparation.
• Coordinate logistics for OCIA candidates to attend Rite of Election at Cathedral Basilica, as well as for those necessary for the Easter Vigil.
• Attends weekly staff meetings and assists with various special events.
• Other duties as assigned by Pastor.

Qualifications:

• Passion for teaching the Catholic Faith to children and adults.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred, with some Catholic ministry experience necessary.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
• Works well in a team environment, as well as independently.
• Outgoing and personable demeanor.
• Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
• Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
