Job Description
Position Summary:Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Director of Campus Ministry, the Campus Minister engages, evangelizes and mentors students; provides pastoral care to students and encourages spiritual and moral growth; plans and directs faith based programs and activities; promotes the University's Catholic and Marianist mission and identity. Opportunity to collaborate with and be mentored by a director with 10+ year's campus ministry experience in a collaborative, welcoming faith community. Reports to: Director of Campus Ministry. Full-time, 11 month exempt position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and execute faith formation programs, retreats and events including the recruitment and formation of student leaders, and the evaluation and assessment of programs, retreats and events.
Campus Ministry sponsored events include but are not limited to: Student Retreats, Spiritual Convocation, Founders Week events, Masses, liturgies, prayer services, monthly service opportunities for students, and regular meetings of small faith communities, Bible Studies, etc.
Provide pastoral care and support for students of all backgrounds, including collaborating with Residence Life, Student Engagement, Athletics and other offices.
Participate in New Student Orientation, Opportunities Fair, Graduation, and other similar university events
Be available for regular office hours as well as some evenings and weekends.
Supervise students who participate in Campus Ministry events
Actively and intentionally reach out to students with an inviting and evangelizing spirit.
Participate in Campus Ministry staff meetings and other university committee meetings as assigned by supervisor
Mentor approximately one-third of the students participating in the Chaminade Scholars program. Help develop programming for Chaminade Scholars.
Provide one-on-one guidance for students as needed, including spiritual companioning and prayer support.
Assist with division budget planning and reconciliation, as needed
Assist with services at the Mystical Rose Oratory
Oversee student ministers and volunteers as needed
Assist with social media and web presence and promotion/ communication of CM events.
Oversee the Campus Ministry office in the absence of the Director of Campus Ministry Director.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Religious Studies, Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, or similar, e.g. Education, Counseling, or Psychology.
Evidence of theological training / formation suitable for ministry.
Practicing Roman Catholic. Desire to embody Catholic and Marianist traditions.
Ability to provide college level faith formation grounded in Catholic theology and spirituality.
Ability to generate enthusiasm for campus ministry and faith formation.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise and mentor undergraduate student leaders in a ministry setting.
Ability to work and minister with a variety of persons in a culturally and religiously diverse context.
Willingness to work some evenings and some weekends.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree (Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, Divinity, Education)
One to three years of experience working with young adults on a campus setting, parish, or Catholic non-profit ministry or related fields.
Experience planning liturgies and coordinating various liturgical ministers.
Experience ministering in Hawaiian / Pacific Island context.
Experience with pastoral care and crisis response.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to plan events, retreats, and other related engagement activities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with public speaking experience and the ability to interact and work with individuals at all levels of the university
Ability to work with individuals of diverse ethnicities and cultures
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, GoogleDrive or comparable software
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize work and resources
Ability to meet deadlines
High integrity and ethical standards consistent with Catholic teaching
