The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ready to guide multiple media, leadership, and mission teams with an integrated approach to diocesan communications. This pivotal supervisory role will drive the strategic direction and development of goals and objectives involving the overall branding, marketing, and communication efforts of the Diocese.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is strongly desired, along with a minimum of five years of senior-level experience. You may be asked to supply a sample portfolio showcasing marketing and communications projects you've led or initiated, including your expertise with various forms of media.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 depending on qualifications. Additionally, the Diocese of Duluth has a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage as well as a 403b with employer match. SUMMARY
Reflecting a commitment to the Church's overall mission of evangelization, the Director of Evangelizing Communications and Marketing works to advance the ministries of the Diocese of Duluth and support the pastoral priorities of the Bishop through an integrated approach to diocesan communications and marketing.
CONTEXT
This position is an extension of the Bishop's Ministry. The incumbent must have a willingness and ability to support the Mission of the Universal and Local Roman Catholic Church.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partners with the Mission Leadership Team to lead and coordinate an integrated approach to diocesan communications, including the overall branding, marketing and communications strategies to support ministerial objectives, ensuring consistent, compelling, and evangelizing communication of mission efforts across the diocese.
• Works collaboratively with diocesan mission teams to provide strategic direction and establishment of goals and objectives that drive the communications and marketing plans for the diocese and each mission team and office around print, digital, social, email, texting, website, audio/video and any additional and evolving communication and marketing channels.
• Oversees all media assets of the diocese and uses them to advance the work of the diocese and the priorities of the Mission Leadership Team and diocesan mission fields.
• Serves as editor of diocesan communications, overseeing all elements of communication production, from editorial planning to distribution.
• Develops collaborative relationships to identify stories that highlight missionary discipleship and evangelization with willingness to travel as needed.
• Supports the diocesan mission teams as well as Catholic entities throughout the diocese, including clergy and staff in mission fields, schools, and apostolates providing consultation and training related to their communication and marketing needs.
• Supervises staff members, overseeing the progress of their assigned projects and routine responsibilities through appropriate procedures, systems and best practices.
• Manages relationships with vendors, contractors, and key partners.
• Tracks and analyzes marketing performance metrics to measure effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
• Serves as the diocesan spokesperson, handling all external communications and media relations, including media statements, announcements and preparing diocesan leadership and staff for public appearances.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a current level of knowledge and skills required to effectively serve in this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supervision of at least one administrative assistant as well as project and vendor teams.
QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or MBA degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
• Senior level experience in Communications or Marketing with a working knowledge of new media, marketing, public relations, and communications practices and principles. A minimum of five years' experience in marketing, communications or a related field required.

• Excellent written and verbal skills with experience crafting mission-aligned messaging.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships.
• Ability to be a natural leader and strategic thinker while balancing big-picture vision with hands-on execution.
• Excellent project management and collaboration abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Proven success in marketing strategy and execution across channels, including social, digital, video and print media.
• Demonstrates confidentiality, good judgment, independence, and sensitivity in the management of others, as well as an ability to bring people together to achieve shared goals.
• Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situations and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues and concerns.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete Safe Environment training as required of all diocesan employees and pass background check connected to that training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to leadership, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
